This is not just a horseback ride followed by lunch. It’s a full day immersed in mountain life at a family-run ranch in the Andes. You’ll ride natural mountain trails with local horsemen, cross clear creeks, and stop in the mountains for a traditional Argentine asado cooked over an open fire. What makes the experience special is its small, personal setting. You’ll spend the day with Daniel’s family and local team, sharing food, stories, horses, and traditions in the place where they are part of everyday life. Rather than a staged gaucho show or a large tourist ranch, this is a rustic and genuine experience designed to bring you closer to the people, landscapes, and culture of the Argentine Andes.

    Authentic Mendoza Experience

If you’re looking for a full day of an authentic Argentinian experience, this is it. Joaquin picked us up at the hotel in the morning and drove ua to the ranch. Not only was he kind, but so knowledgeable and answered any and every question we had. We arrived to the ranch and were greeted with fresh pastries that were being cooked over an open fire, tea, and honey made right on the ranch. We then were fitted with our horses and were on our way. I’m not someone who has a lot of riding experience and I felt safe and comfortable with my horse. The day was exceptional. A once in a lifetime experience riding through the Andes with a guide. After 3 hours of riding, we returned to the ranch for a traditional asada meal. We ate and drank local wine with them as the sun started to come out. Joaquin was an exceptional translator. It was so unique to experience a day with locals in that way. It was everything we wanted it to be and more. I can’t recommend this adventure more.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for such a beautiful review. It was a real pleasure spending the day with you and sharing a bit of our life here in the Andes. I’m really happy to hear how much you enjoyed the whole experience — from the ride to the food. Thank you as well for your kindness, the great conversations, and the energy you brought to the day. You’ll always be welcome back whenever you return to Mendoza — the mountains and the horses will be waiting. Warm regards

    Amazing and authentic experience

Amazing experience and definitely one of the best activities of our trip! The experience is very authentic and you also get a good chance to appreciate the beautiful landscape of the Andes mountains. The horses were calm and easy to ride even for someone with no experience. Our guide Pablo was extremely helpful as was our host Daniel. I would definetely it!

    Rustic and pleasant Gaucho experience

The authenticity of the experience, from driving through the mountains, arriving at the ranch, interacting with the gauchos and animals, was out of this world. The horses were well-trained, and our tour guide, Tim, was knowledgeable and always prioritized our safety. TheAsado was phenomenal. Ascending into the mountains was a heavenly feeling.

Horseback Riding in the Andes, gaucho experience & BBQ: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mendoza.

How much does Horseback Riding in the Andes, gaucho experience & BBQ cost?

    +

Prices start at $365 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mendoza usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Horseback Riding in the Andes, gaucho experience & BBQ take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mendoza is not rushed.

Is Horseback Riding in the Andes, gaucho experience & BBQ worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mendoza, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Horseback Riding in the Andes, gaucho experience & BBQ?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Horseback Riding in the Andes, gaucho experience & BBQ suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Horseback Riding in the Andes, gaucho experience & BBQ?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mendoza can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mendoza and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Horseback Riding in the Andes, gaucho experience & BBQ start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mendoza within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mendoza?

    +

On Outty we rank every Mendoza experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include High Mountain, Aconcagua and Inca Bridge, Andes High Mountain full day Tour, Horseback riding and roast in the mountains of Mendoza. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mendoza?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mendoza?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
