Holiday train show 2025
NYBG is a lot smaller than it looks on the map. Or maybe we skipped areas we didn't know about/didn't go to the right spots. To be honest, I never knew this garden was located in the Bronx until I heard about the Holiday Train Show. I was able to get free tickets via work. We went towards the start of its run on a Tuesday in November, to avoid the crowds. There are timed tickets (we got them for 11 AM) that say you have a 15-minute grace period, but luckily, they didn't seem too strict with that. But then again, it was a during the daytime on a weekday. The train show was a bit underwhelming. Maybe it's nicer for Holiday Train Nights? But I would be mad if I actually paid money for this. There wasn't much to see around the rest of the gardens. I'm guessing springtime would be a better time to visit.

A classic we come back to every year
The plant material building models are brilliant as usual and the trains moving through the exhibits are delightful. I also love being able to walk through the rain forest, by the pool, past the orchids and through the desert. My only complaint was the thudding music which seemed designed to make people angry. It was loud and inescapable. I also miss Glow but I guess that ship has sailed.

Great fun with kids
This was a great experience and well worth the train ride out there. It’s pretty much self paced so you can spend some time here if you choose. They offer hot chocolate at strategic points throughout the show. It’s really beautiful and the artistry of the structures is incredible.

Greg & Kathy’s Holiday Train Show Experience.
The “Holiday Train Show” is a fascinating annual Holiday theme attraction that features model trains traveling through immaculate indoor and outdoor replicas of famous NY landmarks. Examples of the replicas found at the “Holiday Train Show” include the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park & Grand Central, each surrounded by lavish Christmas decorations. The show is located inside the Enid A Haupt Conservatory of the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG). In November of 2025, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a visit to NYBG to attend the “Holiday Train Show.” Both my wife and I were in absolute awe of this amazing attractions and very much enjoyed our experience!!! What makes the replicas so enchanting and remarkable is that they are made from natural materials such as birch, bark and acorns and they very much resemble their respective NY landmarks. Both my wife and I enjoyed taking pictures of the model trains, the replicas of Central Park, Grand Central, Statue of Liberty & the NYC skyline. All of the replicas are perfectly designed and absolutely magnificent!!! If you and your family are looking to have fun and excitement during the Christmas Holiday Season, then we highly recommend that you make arrangements to visit the New York Botanical Garden, most notably the “Holiday Train Show!”You”ll be guaranteed to have a great experience when visiting this beloved and wonderful Holiday theme attraction!!!

A hidden gem!
I have to say: Place is a hidden gem. The miniatures are very good, model trains are beautiful and overall experience is unexpectedly good and allows for great photos and a small walk to disconnect the mind. Two cons, though: a) You must pay for parking at the entrance (which is not available for pre-pay) b) Display is a bit short for my taste and has almost no signs for you to follow a specific route. Nevertheless, I recommend it.
