    The Best Sushi and Wagyu!

Maria was the most amazing hostess! From the moment she and her husband personally picked us up from our hotel and then drove us back, every moment between the start and the end Maria went above & beyond. If I could give her a higher rating than ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, I would! Maria fed us the most amazing authentic Japanese foods, including the most fresh and delicious tuna. Maria didn’t just serve us the standard sashimi quality sushi, she prepared us multiple cuts while we watched and learned. The cuts of tuna she prepared for us were ones you would rarely find in a sushi restaurant. She also prepare us the most flavorful multi cuts of Wagyu beef, and yummy pork & mushroom burgers. Maria also made sure we had some of the finest sake to sample with our meal. After we stuffed ourselves with all of this delicious food and plenty of sake, we relaxed in Maria’s cozy living room. The final course were mochi. Marie taught us how to make them so when we are back home we can make our own, homemade mochi. Once our beautiful time together with Maria came to an end we were sad to say good bye. Maria will always hold a special place in our hearts and will be one of our most cherished memories of Japan. When you are choosing which experiences and excursions to partake in Yokohama, Japan, sign up for this delicious experience with Maria, you will not regret it!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a heartfelt review. Reading your kind words truly made my day. It was a pleasure to welcome your wonderful, energetic, and warm family into our home. Since this was your first trip to Japan, I wanted to share not only how to prepare the dishes, but also the stories, traditions, and culture behind each ingredient so you could experience authentic Japan in a relaxed and personal way. Knowing that your family enjoys dining at many high-end restaurants around the world makes your compliments even more meaningful to me. Tuna has been my husband's family business for long years, so it was an honor to serve you the same premium-quality tuna supplied to top sushi restaurants in Ginza. The Wagyu we prepared was carefully selected female Wagyu, which is especially prized in Japan for its tenderness and rich flavor. I was delighted that you appreciated these authentic details. More than anything, I hope our home gave you a peaceful place to rest during your busy travels and helped you experience Japanese hospitality away from the formality of restaurants, especially while adjusting to the time difference. Thank you again for choosing my experience from so many cooking classes available in Japan. You will always be remembered as friends, not just guests, and I sincerely hope our paths cross again one day. Our home will always be waiting for you.

Sushi, Sake, Mochi & Warmth at Marie's Home in Yokohama

At Marie's home in Yokohama I had the chance to experience a very special cooking class: In a relaxed, private atmosphere, she showed me how to make creative sushi candies, delicious tofu meatballs and tender mochi. The whole thing is accompanied by hearty chat, perfectly elaborate recipes and an exclusive sake tasting with hand-picked varieties. Simply watch or lend a hand yourself - both are possible. A culinary experience not to be missed!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for joining my class! It was a truly wonderful experience for me as well. I was impressed by your genuine interest in Japanese ingredients, and I really enjoyed our conversations—it felt like spending time with new friends. I truly hope we can meet again someday!

How many days do you need in Yokohama?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
