Buyer beware. Guide double booked us

Guide booked another tour a few hours before we were supposed to begin - in our time slot. How ironic the fee is non-refundable, so he expected to be paid for two groups? I confirmed the tour a few days beforehand. The day before I was in meetings and the guide tried to reach me. Our appt was 2 pm. I called that morning, he was unavailable for our tour. Would’ve been one thing had I not paid in advance, had the first tour of the day, or had not already confirmed. He was supposedly checking what we wanted to see. Not a good business practice at all and unethical. If you’re paid to be somewhere for an appointment and they don’t show, you give a grace period and leave - it’s on them. But double booking several hours prior to the appointment and then telling us too bad, instead of admitting to the company or client he’d screwed up and honoring the tour we paid for. Of course, by that time I didn’t want to go anywhere with him, but only after he’d screwed it up

Response from the operator: We are very sorry to hear about your experience. Thank you for your opinion it is very important for us to improve. I hope that you will give us a chance to show you how much we changed since this situation. The full refund will be issued to you immediately.

Scott was a entertaining, knowledgeable tour guide. He delivered a lot of information in a logical format that was not overwhelming but easy to remember. I felt he showed us the highlights of the city with great context. I would recommend this tour to those from Cleveland as well as out of Towners! Scott makes the tour great!

Response from the operator: Our tour guide Scott and we are happy to hear it! Thank you for choosing us.

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cleveland and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

Cleveland tours cover the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, West Side Market food walks, lakefront cruises, brewery crawls in Ohio City and short runs to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cleveland?

    +

May to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cleveland?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
