    August 2026 Juneau Trip

Great experience with incredible views. The flight alone was great, but meeting the dogs and going for a short ride was a cherry on top

An Amazing Alaskan Adventure Despite the Weather!

We booked the helicopter and dog sledding experience in Juneau with family, and although the weather didn’t cooperate enough for us to do the original experience as planned, it turned out to be an incredible adventure anyway! Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions, we weren’t able to fly to the original location. The tour company made the decision to take us to a lower elevation at Herbert Glacier instead, and we were so glad they did. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and being surrounded by the incredible Alaskan mountains and glacier was an experience we will never forget. The weather may have changed our original plans, but it certainly didn’t take away from the experience. In fact, seeing Herbert Glacier from the helicopter and experiencing Alaska from above was absolutely amazing. The entire experience was something truly special and one of the highlights of our Alaska trip. We really appreciated the professionalism and flexibility of the team in making the best possible experience for us given the weather conditions. Sometimes Mother Nature has other plans, and this was definitely one of those times but we still came away with amazing memories and beautiful views. We would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Juneau. It was an unforgettable Alaskan adventure! 🚁❄️🏔️💙

    Best excursion ever!

Core memory unlocked! This excursion cost almost as much as our entire 7-day cruise and it was worth every penny! I would do it again in a heartbeat. The crew was all very professional and efficient, and our pilot was a seasoned pro! The visual beauty we experienced on the short flight over the Juneau Ice Fields was unreal. And of course, meeting the dogs and participating in a bit of dogsledding, was so fun! I did not take a second of it for granted and am so grateful!

    The trip was fantastic....

The trip was fantastic. First the helicopter ride to glacier really highlighted the Alaska glaciers. It was smooth and the pilots were very professional. When you get to the dog camp and see all the dogs and the mushers who care for them it was just inspiring. The dogs were very energetic and just wanted to run. The team there was very accommodating and answered all of our questions. Once the got on the sled you can feel how powerful the dogs are. They pulled us thru the snow with ease. They were very friendly and we were able to pet them and take phots with them. The helicopter company went above and beyond. My wife left her hat and glasses in the van upon returning to our cruise ship. We called them and they brought them to the cruise ship before we departed.

    Great Experience!

From start to finish our experience was outstanding! The shuttle operator was easy to locate once disembarking our ship, right on time we departed for the airport. Once at the airport we weighed in, got our boots and waited for our helicopter to arrive. We were whisked away on an absolutely stunning ride to the glacier. Our pilot, Tim, was friendly and informative. At the dog camp we were assigned a musher and a dog team. Abby, our musher, was excellent. She was so patient with answering our many questions. The adorable dogs loved being petted! We highly recommend this excursion!

Helicopter To a Dogsledding Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Juneau.

How much does Helicopter To a Dogsledding Experience cost?

    +

Prices start at $800 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Juneau usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Helicopter To a Dogsledding Experience take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Juneau is not rushed.

Is Helicopter To a Dogsledding Experience worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 195 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Juneau, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Helicopter To a Dogsledding Experience?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Helicopter To a Dogsledding Experience suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Helicopter To a Dogsledding Experience?

    +

Around 68 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Juneau can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Juneau and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Helicopter To a Dogsledding Experience start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Juneau within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Juneau?

    +

Juneau runs Mendenhall Glacier trips, whale watching in Auke Bay, helicopter glacier landings with dog sledding, and rainforest hikes. Most tours are timed to cruise ship windows, so we weight clear duration and pickup detail. On Outty we rank every Juneau experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Juneau Wildlife Whale Watching, Juneau Wildlife Whale Watching & Mendenhall Glacier, Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Juneau?

    +

May to September, peaking for humpbacks in June and July. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Juneau?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
