Nice space & food but the retreat was lacking

I joined the one-day meditation retreat at the Eco Village. While the setting, people, and food were lovely, I wouldn’t recommend the retreat itself. Pros: - Rocky and Peace are very friendly and welcoming - The food was excellent, especially the vegan cao lầu - The environment is peaceful and calming, with a pond, shaded areas, and hammocks Cons: - The retreat had limited actual meditation or Buddhist instruction. We did two seated sessions, one walking meditation, and a small bit of yoga/qi gong, but a large portion of the day (around 4+ hours) was spent listening to long philosophical talks which I found draining given I expected more guided meditation. As someone with prior meditation experience I managed to make the most of the exercises, but beginners would likely find it unclear or lacking direction. - The talks felt more like personal or New Age philosophy than structured guidance in mindfulness or Buddhism. Some of the content was quite unconventional (e.g., strong views on vegan diet (“You eat chicken you start to look like chicken”), skepticism toward modern medicine, and other personal beliefs). During one session we were meditating on a raft in strong direct sunlight and I hadn’t applied sunscreen. Rocky told me that if I wasn’t afraid of the sun it wouldn’t burn me. I had to push to move into the shade. Overall, I think the space itself is worth visiting to come for a meal or spend some quiet time meditating by the water. However, I wouldn’t recommend the one-day retreat, especially given the price (~2 million VND), if you’re looking for structured meditation instruction.

How long does Happy Day Retreat in Hoi An take?

+

Is Happy Day Retreat in Hoi An worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hoi An, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Happy Day Retreat in Hoi An?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Happy Day Retreat in Hoi An suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Happy Day Retreat in Hoi An?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hoi An can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hoi An and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Happy Day Retreat in Hoi An start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hoi An within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hoi An?

+

On Outty we rank every Hoi An experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HOI AN Hidden Gems in Rural Villages & River Islands PRIVATE TOUR, Coconut Jungle Eco & Hoi An City Tour With Boat Ride, Cooking Class Hoi An:Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hoi An?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hoi An?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
