We don’t just show you what to eat.
We introduce you to who keeps the tradition alive.

For over 30 years, Ms. Thuý has stood by this fire, turning rice into memories for generations. We don’t just taste Vietnam.
We witness the hands that prepare it.

Chú Hai has been washing bean sprouts like this every morning for years —
because in Vietnamese cuisine, freshness is never rushed.Sometimes the best meals aren’t found in restaurants —
but on tiny red stools, shared with new friends. Not just tasting street food — but sitting down with the people who make it, and feeling at home. Not just visiting a temple…
but stepping into stories carved in gold and time.

Four beautiful souls, one quiet moment in Hoi An —
where culture isn’t something you watch,
it’s something you feel.A real local morning in Hoi An.
Street coffee, small tables, big connections.
This is how we travel — slow, personal, authentic.

Rich culture of Hoi an and food tour

We had the pleasure to have this tour with Thuy! We experienced the old and rich culture of Hoi an through her lens. We had loads of food and Thuy also helped us learn some important Vietnamese words and sentences! Overall I highly recommend this tour.

Hoi An behind the scenes

Swan and Ruby were terrific. This was a brilliant way to see the hidden side of Hoi An, meet locals and really get under the surface of Vietnam. The best thing I have done in Vietnam so far!

Thùy guided us with such care and attention

Our family of 3 had the good fortune to take this tour through the hidden gems of Hoi An and we had absolutely the best afternoon. Our guide, Thùy, showed us where traditional Vietnamese noodles are made, how bean sprouts are grown and introduced us to the farmers and their techniques. Thùy was highly attentive, interesting to chat to and you could just tell how much she loved her city. We had the best afternoon and came away with full bellies ( the Bahn Mi was SO good !! ) and a lot more understanding of this beautiful corner of the world. Many thanks Thùy - was truly a pleasure to meet you :-)

Interesting highlight in Hoi An

This was such an interesting tour of the backstreets and unknown parts of HoiAn guide. Kim was really interesting …helpful… caring of each person only three people on this tour but we all had a really great time. Lots of interesting food tastings which we really enjoyed and learning about old Time skills and producers in and around the town. Lots of walking but we had lots of stops to sit down and try different types of food etc. It really is worth doing it. Highly recommend it.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hoi An.

How much does Hidden Gems of Old Hoi An – Food & Cultural Walking Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hoi An usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Hidden Gems of Old Hoi An – Food & Cultural Walking Tour take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hoi An is not rushed.

Is Hidden Gems of Old Hoi An – Food & Cultural Walking Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 90 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 1,186 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Hoi An, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.

Can I cancel or reschedule Hidden Gems of Old Hoi An – Food & Cultural Walking Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Hidden Gems of Old Hoi An – Food & Cultural Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Hidden Gems of Old Hoi An – Food & Cultural Walking Tour?

+

Around 415 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hoi An can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hoi An and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Hidden Gems of Old Hoi An – Food & Cultural Walking Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hoi An within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hoi An?

+

On Outty we rank every Hoi An experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HOI AN Hidden Gems in Rural Villages & River Islands PRIVATE TOUR, Coconut Jungle Eco & Hoi An City Tour With Boat Ride, Cooking Class Hoi An:Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hoi An?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hoi An?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
