What you'll see and do
Vienna
We set out from Vienna in the morning, trading boulevards for open fields and foothills on a roughly 4-hour westbound drive. In the final hour, the road drifts into the Salzkammergut: clear lakes flash between trees, the slopes gather height, and small villages press close to the shoreline—an easy preview of what’s ahead. Hallstatt appears suddenly, tucked between water and rock. The tempo drops. You follow the lakeside promenade toward the slender church spire, step into the Market Square, and wander lanes that climb toward the forest.

Be Aware!
Be very careful booking this. This was to be the highlight of our Berlin, Prague, Vienna and Budapest trip. We arrived to the meeting place at 7:15 am as stated on emails and tickets received. The tour was to leave at 7:30 am. When we arrived we would not find our guide. I received a missed call from the guide at 7:07 am. When I saw the missed call I messaged and learned the tour left! We were exactly where we were supposed to be at 7:15 am. I have been trying to get a refund but I am receiving no response to my messages. Unless this is made right, I won’t use Viator again.
Response from the operator: Dear Customer, We are sorry to hear that you were unable to join the tour. However, we would like to clarify that the scheduled departure time was 7:00 a.m., as clearly stated in the tour description. Furthermore, a reminder message confirming the departure time was sent to you one day prior to the tour. The information provided in both the booking details and the reminder was consistent and clearly indicated the 7:00 a.m. departure time. Based on these records, the tour departed according to the advertised schedule and there was no deviation from the communicated departure time. We understand that this situation was disappointing, but unfortunately, as the departure time had been clearly communicated in advance, we are unable to consider this a service failure or approve a refund on this basis. Kind regards

They cancelled the trip at 6 30pm the evening before, leaving me with no time to book anything else. I had booked my 3 day trip to vienna around this tour. They also didn't process my refund until a week and a half later, and I had to contact multiple times to ask for refund to be processed.

Marek was a wonderful and...
Marek was a wonderful and kind tour guide. He gave interesting facts and was accommodating to our small group. We drove from Vienna to Hallstatt (Marek picked us up at each of our hotels/Airbnb’s) and stopped about halfway at a gas station for facilities, a stretch and refreshments. The tour at Hallstatt was short but informative and we spent the remaining 2 hours solo, agreeing to a set time to meet back at our parking spot. The drive back matched the drive in. Wonderful experience, beautiful town and history. Highly recommend!

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hallstatt Full-Day Tour from Vienna: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vienna.
How much does Hallstatt Full-Day Tour from Vienna cost?
+
Prices start at $78 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vienna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hallstatt Full-Day Tour from Vienna take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vienna is not rushed.
Is Hallstatt Full-Day Tour from Vienna worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 54 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vienna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hallstatt Full-Day Tour from Vienna?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hallstatt Full-Day Tour from Vienna suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hallstatt Full-Day Tour from Vienna?
+
Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vienna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vienna and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hallstatt Full-Day Tour from Vienna start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vienna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Vienna?
+
On Outty we rank every Vienna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Authentic Vienna Food Tour inc. lunch, street food, 3 drinks, Vienna Food Tour: Coffeehouses, Markets, Lunch & Street Food, Budapest Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Vienna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Vienna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
