Great way to get a little history

Was a great way to see the boardwalk without being on a schedule or in a group. Interesting information and learned just enough to feel we had done a tour. Pointed out things we would not have noticed otherwise. Needs to be updated as a couple of things were no longer there or had changed slightly. Would definitely do the audio tour again in another area.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the 5 stars! We're so glad you enjoyed exploring at your own pace and that the tour pointed out things you might have missed. We really appreciate you flagging that a few things have changed - we'd love to keep everything current and accurate. If you have a moment, please email us at info@tripvia.tours with the specifics and our team can take a look, so we can implement any needed updates. Thanks again, and we hope to see you on another tour soon!

Easy to use, not for off-season, not up to date

April 16 2026 I enjoyed the tour, being able to do an audio tour at my own pace, stopping where I’d like to and get back on track is great. I also found it very easy to follow the instructions and the audio and gps follow along/ start audio at next stop was very useful - I didn’t have to pull my phone out of my pocket in the rain - audio just started when needed. Feedback…. I know I booked the tour in the shoulder season, I felt that it should have been noted that some items are not available outside of certain dates. I stopped at the hammocks on the dock where audio explained to take a rest, enjoy the sun, rest in a hammock …. The hammock are not there in April. Understandable, it was raining, windy, I used my imagination. George’s national historic site stop - it was great to learn of what is on the island and the boat you can take there … that isn’t there in April … Fountain at the bishops landing …. Not in operation in April CSS Acadia - under covers in the off season. The stocks … not there, the whole area is under construction - your map shows ‘salty’s which was demolished last year, I’m assuming the stocks have been removed so they can get construction vehicles to the old salty’s …. Which takes away from finishing up with Blackbeard commentary. As mentioned I enjoyed the tour however I think some updated research needs to be done. I do feel the tour is mainly focused on ‘in season’ tours’.

Response from the operator: Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the tour overall - especially the ease of the GPS‑triggered audio on a rainy day. As we mentioned in our earlier correspondence, some features along the waterfront are seasonal or occasionally unavailable due to construction. We do note this in the tour description under the "What's Included" section - “Recommended attractions may be closed or inaccessible depending on the season or circumstances beyond our control.” That said, we understand it can still be disappointing when something isn’t available during an off‑season visit. We appreciate you outlining the specific locations you encountered — those notes have already been passed along to our team as part of our regular update cycle. Feedback like this helps us keep things as accurate as possible for future guests. Thanks again for exploring Halifax with us.

Halifax Seaport & Boardwalk Self-Guided Smartphone Audio Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Halifax.

How much does Halifax Seaport & Boardwalk Self-Guided Smartphone Audio Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $9 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Halifax usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Halifax Seaport & Boardwalk Self-Guided Smartphone Audio Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Halifax is not rushed.

Is Halifax Seaport & Boardwalk Self-Guided Smartphone Audio Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Halifax, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Halifax Seaport & Boardwalk Self-Guided Smartphone Audio Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Halifax Seaport & Boardwalk Self-Guided Smartphone Audio Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Halifax Seaport & Boardwalk Self-Guided Smartphone Audio Tour?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Halifax can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Halifax and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Halifax Seaport & Boardwalk Self-Guided Smartphone Audio Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Halifax within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Halifax?

    +

On Outty we rank every Halifax experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Tour - Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, the Annapolis Valley, Wine and Lunch Escape, Half-Day Historical Tour of Halifax. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Halifax?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Halifax?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
