    Disappointed in tour. He...

Disappointed in tour. He talked about the buildings constantly and very little about history. He walked us all over and we had no idea where we were. He was hard to understand. Over all I would not recommend this tour

Don’t be shy w the tour guy.

This was my 3rd tour during my 2.5 day Amsterdam stay. I made a rookie mistake and didn’t check his credentials at the designated meeting spot (random hotel). This didn’t un nerve me until 1/4 of the way through - when I realized he could be any body leading me through the small desolate alley ways. Alas.. That is on me. But He couldn’t tell me when city hall was built, yet was eager to show me his favorite sex shop. He told me to smile at the sex workers. He waved and smiled at them. He talked at length about the glories of sex work. Suggested a condom I might get for my husband…. asked if I was until hallucinogens… It was just too much for me. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy many aspects of the tour - except that, 2 days later, I’m realizing I did not like the tour. And it costs me $200 more than I had paid for any tour. Live and learn. I should have stopped immediately and asked for credentials. I should have spoken up 10min into the Red Light District. Shoulda Woulda Coulda

Response from the operator: We are really sorry that you did not enjoy the tour. I usually do the tours myself but unfortunately I was sick that day. However our guide Charlie is a great guide as well and he was really surprised by your review. The tour you booked is about the Red Light District so most people that book this tour are really interested about the area and history of sex work. Since it is a private tour everything is very flexible and if you wanted to skip the Red Light District area that would have been no problem. Unfortunately to Charlie you came across as very interested and asked loads of questions.

    Great Tour/Great Guide

I truly enjoyed this tour. Tony was an awesome guide, and was very flexible. We had to stop back at our hotel prior to starting because we had packages to drop off, and he didn’t blink. Highly recommend this tour if you are in Amsterdam. Bring you walking shoes though!

Half-Day Tour of Red Light District and Jordaan District with Private Guide in Amsterdam: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.

How much does Half-Day Tour of Red Light District and Jordaan District with Private Guide in Amsterdam cost?

    +

Prices start at $58 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Half-Day Tour of Red Light District and Jordaan District with Private Guide in Amsterdam take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.

Is Half-Day Tour of Red Light District and Jordaan District with Private Guide in Amsterdam worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Tour of Red Light District and Jordaan District with Private Guide in Amsterdam?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Half-Day Tour of Red Light District and Jordaan District with Private Guide in Amsterdam suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Half-Day Tour of Red Light District and Jordaan District with Private Guide in Amsterdam?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Half-Day Tour of Red Light District and Jordaan District with Private Guide in Amsterdam start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
