Amazing Experience as a Family!
The tour was amazing since we got to see manatees, dolphins, sharks, turtles plus an infinite amount of fishes and birds. Our guide Cristina was amazing, able to speak French and very informative as well as friendly. We highly recommend this tour. PS: Make sure to bring some cash for the tips of the various drivers, captains and guides.
Response from the operator: It sounds like you had an incredible day surrounded by some of Sian Ka’an’s most remarkable wildlife! Seeing manatees, dolphins, turtles, sharks, and so many species of fish and birds in one outing is certainly a collection of memories to take home. We’re particularly happy that Cristina was able to make the experience enjoyable in French while sharing her knowledge with warmth and enthusiasm. Your practical tip about carrying some cash for gratuities is also very helpful for future travelers joining the adventure. Thank you for recommending the tour so highly—we’re delighted that Sian Ka’an left such a strong impression on you!

Highly recommend!
Amazing and unique experience! Our guide Jessica was very knowledgeable and just a blast to spend the day with. A perfect small group experience exploring the mangroves. We saw manatees and a variety of birds, learning a lot about this special ecosystem along the way. The highlight was jumping into the lagoon to explore an underwater Cenote. Tasty lunch provided at the end. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: What a fantastic way to experience Sian Ka’an! It sounds like the combination of wildlife, mangroves, and Jessica’s stories gave you a wonderful glimpse into the importance and beauty of this unique ecosystem. We’re especially happy that the cenote was the highlight. A small group makes these moments even more enjoyable, allowing for a more personal and relaxed connection with the environment. We’ll be sure to let Jessica know how much you appreciated her knowledge and fun spirit, and thank you for recommending the experience!

A "Nat Geo" experience!
I had a wonderful time on this tour. I went on three different excursions during my time in Mexico and this was the only tour that offered pickup right at my hotel, which was wonderful. The driver Hector was friendly and attentive, and our guide Pablo was very knowledgeable and personable. We saw many birds, manatees, and some crocodiles (my favorite being a manatee mom and baby!). I am a big fan of birds and Pablo was wonderful with helping me identify and log the ones we saw. The guide team did an awesome job finding wildlife, as they know the best spots and techniques for sightings. After the adventure we got to relax and have a fantastic lunch at a nearby cenote. We were able to snorkel in the cenote which was super neat. It was a very laid back and beautiful experience. Sian Ka'an is a must see and this is a great group to see it with.
Response from the operator: Thank you for such a thoughtful review! We're delighted that Sian Ka’an was one of the highlights of your time in Mexico. It sounds like nature was very generous that day, especially with the manatee mother and baby! We're also happy that Pablo could help you identify and enjoy the birdlife along the way—sharing those special moments is one of the things we love most about these experiences. We'll be sure to pass your kind words on to both Pablo and Hector. Thank you for joining us, and we hope your wildlife journal continues to grow with many more adventures!

National geographic experience, worth it
We had a wonderful experience learning about the biosphere and opportunity to see crocodiles and manatee in their natural habitat. We were lucky the current in the ocean wasn't too strong and were able to snorkel and see coral reefs and fish, if the waves are strong you won't be able to snorkel given the size of boats you're in. The lunch provided was also amazing and authentic mexican food. We ate by a cenote we got to swim in too. Lastly our tour guide Pablo and driver Axel were phenomenal, great energy and made the experience so much more enjoyable.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It sounds like nature gave you some wonderful surprises, from crocodiles and manatees to the coral reef and colorful fish. We’re especially happy to hear that Pablo and Axel made such a positive impression with their energy and dedication. And of course, ending the day with authentic Mexican food and a swim in a cenote is never a bad way to finish an adventure! We hope to see you again on a future visit to the region.

Why this scores 79
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Half-Day Tour Discovering Sian Ka´an with Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tulum.
How much does Half-Day Tour Discovering Sian Ka´an with Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $204 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tulum usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Half-Day Tour Discovering Sian Ka´an with Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tulum is not rushed.
Is Half-Day Tour Discovering Sian Ka´an with Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 266 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Tulum, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Tour Discovering Sian Ka´an with Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Half-Day Tour Discovering Sian Ka´an with Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Half-Day Tour Discovering Sian Ka´an with Lunch?
+
Around 93 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tulum can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tulum and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Half-Day Tour Discovering Sian Ka´an with Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tulum within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tulum?
+
On Outty we rank every Tulum experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tulum Ruins, Turtles in Akumal and Cenote tour, Tulum Guided Tour, Magical Cenote, Lagoon Snorkeling and Beachside Lunch, Chichén Itzá, Cenote and Valladolid with Lunch and transportation. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tulum?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tulum?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
