About this experience
Discover why Lexington, Kentucky is known as the Horse Capital of the World on this 3.5-hour narrated tour with transportation provided on a comfortable 14-person passenger van. The tour is not all on the van, though, as destination stops are made at world famous Keeneland Race Course* and one or more of the beautiful Thoroughbred horse farms that combine to make the Lexington region the true epicenter of Thoroughbred breeding in the United States ... and beyond. All tours are given by very experienced local guides who share a wealth of stories about the history of the local area, farms, bourbon production and the Thoroughbred horse -- the world's most desired breed for winning the world's most prestigious races. * NOTE: All tour itineraries can vary/change depending on changing destination and farm availability on the specific day of the tour. This is true for all of the venues (including Keeneland at its discretion) and the Thoroughbred horse farms. Thank you for touring with us

Highlight of our visit to Lexington Kentucky
Our experience was enhanced because Tim, our friendly guide, is also a professional race horse trainer. We learned so much about the horse racing industry and the life cycle of the race horse. The horse farms are gorgeous, the pace was relaxed. We got to pet lots of horses, meet industry experts, and even a little time in a gift shop at the Keeneland racetrack. Highly reccomend!

Our entire group...
Our entire group thoroughly enjoyed the horse farm and race track tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the horse racing industry and you could tell he loved sharing his knowledge. The horse farms were beautiful and we got to pet some horses! The race track was also amazing to see and we were able to watch some horses running on the track while we stood right up next to it. Very good tour!

300 years of thoroughbred horse business in an afternoon
The drive through horse ranch country was beautiful. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgable about everything thoroughbred. The tour provided a brief peek behind the curtain of the Lexington thoroughbred horse business. It was a very informative and interesting tour.

Half-Day Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour in Kentucky: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lexington.
How much does Half-Day Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour in Kentucky cost?
+
Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lexington usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Half-Day Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour in Kentucky take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lexington is not rushed.
Is Half-Day Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour in Kentucky worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 92 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 2,084 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Lexington, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour in Kentucky?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Half-Day Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour in Kentucky suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Half-Day Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour in Kentucky?
+
Around 729 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lexington can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lexington and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Half-Day Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour in Kentucky start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lexington within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lexington?
+
Lexington, KY packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Lexington by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Lexington experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Unique Horse Farm Tours with Insider Access to Private Farms, Walking Food Tour Downtown Lexington, Bites of the Bluegrass Cocktails & Bites Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lexington?
+
Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Lexington, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lexington?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
