Another side of Cairo and Egypt
The tour featured visits to two Mosques and Coptic Cairo churches. It highlighted the history of the religions throughout Egyptian history. Our guide, Magwan, was extremely knowledgeable. She provided clear and specific details about the various religions in Egypt and Cairo while taking us on a well planned tour. This is a must for those wishing to discover a different side of Cairo.

Half day in the Old Cairo with the best guide ever!
We only had half a day available in Cairo and we really wanted to visit Citadel and the old city. At the last minute we decided to have a private guide so that we got the most out of the day. To make things ever worse, we were arriving at the hotel only at 13h00, and at this time it was very late for most of the tour agencies. Magic life tours were very quick to respond and accommodate our wish! This was a big win to start with! Rania - our tour guide - was really amazing throughout the tour. She was active, engaged, funny and super enjoyable to listen to. She provided all sorts of details and information on the places we visited, the city and life in Cairo and the best company for us. She new literally everyone in the old city (entrance & security guards, ticket employees, shoe keepers in the mosques etc.), which made our visits even faster. We highly recommend her! We planned our tour step-by-step, based on the things that we really wanted to visit and avoiding the unnecessary stops that are usually imposed by other tours. Overall we indeed had a blast and came back to the hotel thinking that our money well spent!

Rania was exceptional!
Just finished our tour (almost full day as we added on the Museum of Civilisation) with Rania. She is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly very proud of her Egyptian heritage, delivering her commentary with enthusiasm and a good sense of humour. We also agree with other reviews that she is an expert at navigating crowds! We definitely have the "Egypt bug" now. A call out to our driver too, expertly navigating the crazy Cairo traffic.
Response from the operator: thank you for your splendid words ❤️ We were happy to serve you and look forward to seeing you again 😍

Beautiful churches and mosques of Cairo.
A great time visiting old Cairo also known as Coptic Cairo. St Mary Church and St Barbara (cave church where Mary, Joseph and Jesus took refuge) were beautiful and the historical significance overwhelming. The Citadel likewise with its famous mosques was equally impressive. Our guide was very well spoken and knowledgeable about everything. He was very easy to interact with and quite charming. Our driver was excellent navigating the crowded streets of Cairo! Recommend this as a “must see” in Cairo!

Rasha is the best!
Rasha came highly recommended to us from the Ramses Hilton, and we couldn't have been happier with our half day tour of Old Cairo. Her expertise and experience shone through her articulate and well-manicured tour of the Citadel and many Mosques and museums in the area. We had a great time seeing the "City of a Thousand Minarets" up close with a such a friendly and professional guide. Worth every dollar.

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Half-Day Private Tour in Old Cairo and Citadel: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cairo.
How much does Half-Day Private Tour in Old Cairo and Citadel cost?
+
Prices start at $68 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cairo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Half-Day Private Tour in Old Cairo and Citadel take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cairo is not rushed.
Is Half-Day Private Tour in Old Cairo and Citadel worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cairo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Private Tour in Old Cairo and Citadel?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Half-Day Private Tour in Old Cairo and Citadel suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Half-Day Private Tour in Old Cairo and Citadel?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cairo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cairo and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Half-Day Private Tour in Old Cairo and Citadel start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cairo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cairo?
+
On Outty we rank every Cairo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include All-in-One Giza Tour, inside Pyramid, sphinx, Camel ride & lunch, VIP Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx Tour –Inside the Pyramids&More, Best of Cairo Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cairo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cairo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
