    A beautiful day in NYC

Elmer was our driver and he was willing to take us wherever we wanted to go. We tailored the tour to what we wanted to see the most.

    A fun time!

Eddie was awesome! He was so accommodating and took us to all the hotspots and gave us ample time to get off and take photos. The company was also very nice to confirm the appointment beforehand and organize a car seat for our 2 year old. If you just want a nice, relaxing vibe to see some must-see sites and get off and explore, choose them :)

    Travel to NYC

This is our very first time traveling to NYC. We stayed in Midtown NY. Eddie our driver and tour guide was absolutely amazing! We booked a private tour and so glad we did! Eddie was patient, kind & friendly, trusting, a safe driver, accommodating, and knew his way around and thru this traffic. If ever and when visiting NY, ask for Eddie as your tour guide, you won’t regret it!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re honored you chose us for your very first trip to NYC and thrilled to hear that Eddie made it such a memorable one. Our private tours are designed for exactly this kind of experience—personalized, stress-free, and led by knowledgeable, friendly professionals who truly know the city. Your kind words about Eddie’s patience, safety, and expertise mean a lot to us, and they help future travelers feel confident booking with us. We’d love to welcome you back on your next visit to New York!

Guide Never Showed Up for Private Tour

This is the first time I’ve had to give a 1 star rating for a Viator sponsored tour. We are used Viator all over the world and have always have outstanding tour companies. Unfortunately this was not the case with this tour. There was no confirmation text or email sent by the tour company. On the morning of our private tour the tour guide did not show up. After several calls with the tour company and their promising they would get back to us they never did. I had to continue calling and finally just had cancelled this tour. Needless to say our morning was ruined and we had to go about New York on our own. I would not recommend “Happy Shuttles Tour.”

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the experience you described—this is not the level of service we aim to provide our valued customers, and we fully understand how disappointing and disruptive this must have been, especially during a visit to New York City. You are absolutely right to expect clear confirmation, timely communication, and a reliable, professional guide. The lack of confirmation, the missed pickup, and the breakdown in follow-up are serious service gaps, and we take full responsibility for them. These are loopholes in our process that we are actively addressing by strengthening our confirmation system, improving same-day communication protocols, and reinforcing accountability with our operations and driver teams to ensure this does not happen again. While this experience does not reflect the standard of service we are known for or that many of our guests consistently enjoy, we understand that trust is built on reliability—especially for private tours. For future guests reading this, please know that we are committed to delivering punctual, well-communicated, and personalized tours that allow you to enjoy NYC stress-free and with confidence. We truly regret that your morning was affected and appreciate you bringing this to our attention, as it helps us improve. Should you ever consider giving us another opportunity, we would be grateful for the chance to provide the high-quality experience you expected and deserved.

    Driving around NYC.

We did not get the experience we signed up for. After waiting 30 minutes for our tour guide to show up, we called and were told there was a "miscommunication." They were kind enough to find a "driver" who drove us around as we told him what the tour was supposed to consist of. He was a local person and stopped so we could see some of the sights. He was obviously just filling in for whomever was supposed to tour. He was nice, but, the experience was not as listed.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We sincerely apologize that the tour did not meet your expectations and that there was a miscommunication regarding your scheduled guide. This is not the experience we want any of our guests to have, especially for a tour that is meant to be seamless, well-organized, and led by a fully prepared guide. While we’re glad our team was able to quickly arrange a local driver so your time wasn’t completely lost, we understand that this was not the service you signed up for, nor was it delivered as listed. That gap between expectation and execution is something we take very seriously. We are actively addressing these operational and communication issues by tightening scheduling procedures, improving real-time coordination, and ensuring that assigned guides are fully briefed and confirmed ahead of every tour. For future guests reading this review, our goal is to provide professionally guided, thoughtfully planned tours that highlight the best of the city without stress or uncertainty. Many of our customers choose us for our personalized service, knowledgeable guides, and reliability—and we are committed to making sure every tour reflects that standard. We truly appreciate your honest feedback, as it helps us improve. We regret that this experience fell short and are taking steps to ensure our guests receive the quality and consistency they deserve moving forward.

Half Day New York City Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Jersey City.

How much does Half Day New York City Private Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $580 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Jersey City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Half Day New York City Private Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Jersey City is not rushed.

Is Half Day New York City Private Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Jersey City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Half Day New York City Private Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Half Day New York City Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Half Day New York City Private Tour?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Jersey City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Jersey City and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Half Day New York City Private Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Jersey City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Jersey City?

    +

Jersey City offers Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island departures from Liberty State Park, skyline photo cruises, waterfront cycling and quick PATH access into Manhattan. On Outty we rank every Jersey City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Washington D.C., Niagara Falls & Philadelphia 3-Day Tour from NYC, Niagara Falls 2-Day Tour from NYC with Corning & Finger Lakes, 5-Day Niagara Falls, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City from NYC. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Jersey City?

    +

April to June and September to November. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Jersey City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
