    Best Unique experience in Telluride

Wow, the half day ice climbing experience was amazing in every way! Our family of 4 (me-50, my wife-49, and two boys-13/11) all loved it and made it to the top. Our guide (John) was great. He reached out the day before to walk us through the day, what to bring and what to expect. He then picked us up at the house we were renting which was very convenient. A short 20 minute ride later, we were at the trail head for a 15 minute hike to the box canyon where we climbed. John was patient and gave us some great instructions before having each of us complete a short practice session. Each person takes a turn climbing individually and it’s amazing that you can go from never having swung an ice pick or wearing crampons to doing both while scaling an ice wall. It was an amazing experience made better by a great guide (John) and I’m so glad we tried this. Highly recommend!

Response from the operator: Anthony, thanks so much for the fantastic review! We're glad you and your family had such a great experience ice climbing with John. He's a top-notch guide and bashing ice compares to nothing else. Strong work getting to the top! Cheers, The Mountain Trip Team

Wonderful outing with an awesome guide, Taka. Beautiful canyon and such an amazing experience. Ice climbing definitely tests your nerve but so rewarding to do!

Response from the operator: Yvonne, thanks for the lovely review! Taka is an excellent guide and we're happy to hear you enjoyed your time ice climbing with him. Where you climbed is a special place, and ice climbing is totally unique and rewarding. We're glad we got to share that experience with you and your family! Cheers, The Mountain Trip Team

    Great Ice Climb!

We had an absolutely amazing experience with mountain trip guides. We did a half day ice climbing lesson. I was with my two boys ages 15 and 11. Our guide was Carly who was incredible. In just a short period of time she had us climbing with ease. It was extremely safe and comfortable. Her knowledge is outstanding as is Todd and the rest of the crew. If you are looking for an activity to do one afternoon if you are not skiing, I would absolutely recommend this. It is such a unique adventure, and one that we will be back to do again.

Response from the operator: Hey, thanks for the review! It was great to meet your family in the office, and we're psyched that you had such an awesome time with Carly. She's an amazing guide. Hopefully we can level up and climb again, maybe the Ouray Ice Park, with you guys again next winter! Cheers, The Mountain Trip Team

Marcus our guide was wonderful. We had a great time and now can’t wait to do more ice climbing and rock climbing with mountain trips!

Response from the operator: Thanks for the great review! I'm psyched to hear you had such a good time out there. Marcus is an amazing guide, we are so lucky to have him as a part of our team! We'd love to see you out here again!

Bucket List - Chicks with Picks

This was a bucket list item for many of us and we were a tad apprehensive. Carly our guide was fabulous. Her calm demeanor and clear instruction helped us to scale the ice. This was a wonderful experience that we will do again.

Response from the operator: Heck yeah! Thanks a ton for the review. We're sure it can happen, but we're under the opinion that it's next to impossible to have a bad day in the mountains (and ice climbing) with Carly. We love hearing that you had such a positive experience, and hope to see you back in the San Juans soon for Round 2! Cheers, The Mountain Trip Team

Half-Day Ice Climbing - Telluride: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Telluride.

How much does Half-Day Ice Climbing - Telluride cost?

    +

Prices start at $269 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Telluride usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Half-Day Ice Climbing - Telluride take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Telluride is not rushed.

Is Half-Day Ice Climbing - Telluride worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Telluride, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Ice Climbing - Telluride?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Half-Day Ice Climbing - Telluride suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Half-Day Ice Climbing - Telluride?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Telluride can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Telluride and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Half-Day Ice Climbing - Telluride start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Telluride within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Telluride?

    +

Telluride, CO packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Telluride by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Telluride experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Telluride Via Ferrata - Private Trip, Telluride 1 Day Rafting Trip with Lunch - San Miguel River, Telluride Morning Half Day Rafting Trip - San Miguel River. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Telluride?

    +

Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Telluride, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Telluride?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
