Giant Wild Goose Pagoda
After visiting the great Terracotta Warriors, you must be starving. Your guide will recommend a local restaurant where you can have lunch and rest a bit before heading back city. After lunch, your tour moves to a city historic site - Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This is a Tang-era Buddhist pagoda with a history of over 1400 years. You might have heard about the story Journey to the West in which that the great Buddhism monk Xuan Zang had overcome 81 challenges and finally brought back the Buddhism scriptures from India. Well, this story was told on the basis of an actually person - Xuan Zang except that he didn’t bring any monkey or pig or any other mythological people. This pagoda has collected most of his works from India, together with masterpieces that he translated later. The pagoda itself got repaired again and again in later times and the one you see now endured the last restoration in 1964. Coming here, you will see that the pagoda actually sits inside the Da Ci’en Temple. Nowadays, it is more like a public park that hosts locals singing, dancing, exercising, having dinner, meeting friends, etc.. If you get lucky, you might enjoy a beautiful fountain show performed in the largest fountain of Asia. After the trip, you will be transported back to hotel for rest.

Memorable Xi’an.
Our trip was well managed by Stefanie. She is informative and responsive. Even if she did not know the answer she would research it before responding. Knowledgable, patient and punctual. She spent time with us instead of rushing and did not push to spend unnecessarily. An excellent tour guide with a wonderful personality.

Excellent guide by Melanie provided by Stefanie Xi'an tour
We are travellers from Victoria BC Canada. We flew from Shanghai to Xi'an arriving at 9:30am and were met at the airport by Melanie, our guide provided by Stefanie's Xi'an tour. We spent 2 full days in Xi'an. We are very pleased with Melanie's guide service, her command of the english language is superb, she is very knowledgeable of the ancient chinese history during the reign of different emperors dynasties. Melanie took us to the terracotta army warriors and showed the number of pits where they were discovered. She also took us to the city wall in Xi'an as well as the Wild Goose Pagoda, drum tower, bell tower, as well as to the Muslim quarter. Our short 2 days in Xi'an made us very knowledgeable about the history of Xi'an, thanks to Melanie our guide provided by Stefanie's Xi'an private tour. We would certainly recommend Stefanie Xi'an private tour to anyone visiting Xi'an, she is reliable and charged reasonable rate. Our private driver Zhang drove us back to the airport on the last day, he was punctual and very courteous despite no english, but we used Google translate and it did the job. Bravo to Stefanie, Melanie and Zhang !!!

Why this scores 59

Guided Tour to Terracotta Warriors & Big Wild Goose Pagoda: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Xian.
How much does Guided Tour to Terracotta Warriors & Big Wild Goose Pagoda cost?
+
Prices start at $158 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Xian usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Guided Tour to Terracotta Warriors & Big Wild Goose Pagoda take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Xian is not rushed.
Is Guided Tour to Terracotta Warriors & Big Wild Goose Pagoda worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Xian, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Guided Tour to Terracotta Warriors & Big Wild Goose Pagoda?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Guided Tour to Terracotta Warriors & Big Wild Goose Pagoda suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Guided Tour to Terracotta Warriors & Big Wild Goose Pagoda?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Xian can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Xian and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Guided Tour to Terracotta Warriors & Big Wild Goose Pagoda start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Xian within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Xian?
+
On Outty we rank every Xian experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Xi'an Day Tour: Terracotta Army&Optional City Attractions, All-Inclusive Terracotta Army Tour with Premium Buffet Lunch, 2-Day Customized Warriors Tours & Xian Top Attractions. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Xian?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Xian?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
