  2. Osteroy Municipality

Sørfjorden or the South fjord is part of the Osterfjord which is a peculiar natural phenomenon: an salt water inlet that surrounds the largest inland island in Northern Europe - Osterøy Island - enclosed by contitental land. We drive along the South fjord until we come the the crossroads in Trengereid. (Usually we do not stop here.)

    1 minutes here

  3. From the village of Trengereid we take Route #7 to the Hardangerfjord. (Usually we do not stop here.)

    1 minutes here

  4. Hardangervegen or the Hardanger Road is Norwegian route #7. This road is a tourist attraction in itself. We will see beautiful sights along the way: mountains, lakes and waterfalls. On the way to the Hardangerfjord we will make two photo stops at 2 waterfalls: Fossen Bratte and Steinsdalsfossen.

    1 minutes here

  5. We make a stop at Fossen Bratte waterfall - 259 feet (79 meters) tall. The view is great and you can take some memorable pictures here. A short walking tour to the bottom of the waterfall is highly recommended - you simply must feel the roaring freshness and gentle and pure water drops on your face.

    20 minutes here

  6. Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall

The next stop is at Steinsdalsfossen waterfall - 164 feet (50 meters) tall. You can actually walk behind the falling water without getting wet. A walk behind the waterfall to the view point is highly recommended.

    25 minutes here

  7. Norheimsund

We pass through a small town of Norheimsund - the local municipal administration center on our way to the Hardangerfjord. This is where we usually stop for lunch. There are several options. We recommend having lunch at the Sandven Hotel - a historical landmark from 1857.

    45 minutes here

  8. Hardanger

The Hardangerfjord is the second longest fjord in Norway. We will be travelling along the fjord to Vangdal - a view point where we will make our next stop.

    1 minutes here

  9. After leaving Norheimsund we come to Vangdal. We make a stop at the outlook over the fjord not only to enjoy the view, but also to visit two sights with stone carvings. There is some walking involved down and up moderately steep trails to see the petroglyphs from the Stone Age and the Bronze Age.

    30 minutes here

  10. Hardanger Fjord

We continue our jourley along the fjord. Enjoy the views: natural beauty of the scenery with small quaint villages scattered along the coast. There are a lot of fruit farms on the Hardangerfjord. During summer we can stop at a couple of fruit stands and buy some fruits and berries (available in season).

    1 minutes here

  11. Our next stop is at the little hill called Omaholmen with a stunning view of the Hardangerfjord - one of the best views in the area. After that we'll be driving farther along the Hardangerfjord.

    15 minutes here

  12. We will pass the village of Mundheim and head towards the neighbouring fjord - the Fusafjord. (Usually we do not stop here.)

    1 minutes here

Is GUIDED TOUR: Queen of the Fjords - mini-tour from Bergen, 6 hours worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Bergen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule GUIDED TOUR: Queen of the Fjords - mini-tour from Bergen, 6 hours?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is GUIDED TOUR: Queen of the Fjords - mini-tour from Bergen, 6 hours suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book GUIDED TOUR: Queen of the Fjords - mini-tour from Bergen, 6 hours?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bergen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bergen and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does GUIDED TOUR: Queen of the Fjords - mini-tour from Bergen, 6 hours start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bergen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bergen?

+

On Outty we rank every Bergen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Walking Tour in Bergen of the Past and Present, Guided Tour To Nærøyfjorden, Flåm & Stegastein - incl. 2h cruise, Discover Bergen on Foot and Boat. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bergen?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bergen?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
