Fun Pottery & Mosaic Workshop in Fès

During a recent family trip to Morocco, we had the chance to dive—hands first—into the world of traditional Moroccan pottery and mosaic in Fès. If you’re the kind of traveler who likes more than just snapping photos and buying souvenirs, this two-hour hands-on workshop is a gem. The experience kicked off with a behind-the-scenes look at the artistry that goes into pottery making. Step by step, we were shown the meticulous process—from spinning clay to shaping, drying, and firing. Then came the mosaics—an eye-opening intro into the geometric wizardry that Moroccan artisans are known for. After the demos, it was our turn to try. Let’s just say: those tutorials on YouTube make it look easy. Spoiler alert—it’s not. We each got a shot at the pottery wheel, creating our own wonky (but proudly made) designs. Then we moved to mosaic work, choosing from an array of hand-cut tiles to create something unique. Once finished, the team filled in the gaps with cement and—bonus—delivered the final pieces to our riad the next day. Super cool touch. The whole activity was not just fun, but deeply insightful. It gave us a real appreciation for the incredible skill and patience these craftsmen have. And to top it all off, they brought us into a showroom full of jaw-dropping ceramic pieces—everything from tiny dishes to massive, intricate fountains. Best part? No sales pressure at all… though, let’s be honest, we didn’t leave empty-handed. Our guide, Mourad, was excellent—knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. Pricing was very reasonable, especially compared to some of the large tour operators. You can contact the workshop directly to book, and I’d recommend doing so—both to save money and to support the local artisans directly. Bottom line: if you’ve got a couple of hours to spare in Fès and want to come away with more than just pictures, this workshop is an absolute must.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your feedback Mr. Gad, we always try our best to make our visitors happy. Thank you

Bijzondere ervaring in Fes - Worth every penny

Spent almost 2 hours at this fantastic pottery and zellige workshop, guided by the enthusiastic Mourad. Top service incl taxi ride that picks you up at the desired place and brings you back. During the workshop, you also get a word of explanation about the different materials and how they work there. Like how the zellige is laid. Very quick to book and you also get a very quick reply/confirmation. You can have everything you make there sent both domestic or abroad for a decent price. At the end you can buy something in the shop but this is not an obligation!

Response from the operator: Hi hanane, thank you so much for your feedback. We are always working on pleasing our customers and provide them with an excellent customer service. Thanks Best regards

    Fun experience!

It was a wonderful experience! The instructor was knowledgeable and patient, guiding us through each step with ease. The workshop itself was well-organized, with a relaxed atmosphere that allowed for creativity. The transport to and from could be improved. We were with four, but the car could only fit three.

Guided Pottery and Zellige Workshops in Fes Morocco: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Fez.

How much does Guided Pottery and Zellige Workshops in Fes Morocco cost?

    +

Prices start at €30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Fez usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Guided Pottery and Zellige Workshops in Fes Morocco take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Fez is not rushed.

Is Guided Pottery and Zellige Workshops in Fes Morocco worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Fez, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Guided Pottery and Zellige Workshops in Fes Morocco?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Guided Pottery and Zellige Workshops in Fes Morocco suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Guided Pottery and Zellige Workshops in Fes Morocco?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Fez can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Fez and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Guided Pottery and Zellige Workshops in Fes Morocco start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Fez within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Fez?

    +

On Outty we rank every Fez experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Fes to Marrakech: Merzouga & Ait Ben Haddou, 3 Days 2 Nights, Fes to Marrakech desert tour 3 days, 2Days groupe Tour Fes To Fes Or Marrakech Via Sahara Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Fez?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Fez?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
