    A once-in-a-lifetime adventure

I'm 100% glad we did this: it was an absolute rush. It was a thrill to have dolphins zipping along beside my ski. The swim through the sea cave was surreal. We relaxed on the beach (which we never do), another bonus. And the story is almost of unbelievable caliber, according to the stunned reactions I've gotten from friends. This was my very first time on a jet ski (I watched some YouTube videos the night before), so if you are fit and body-aware, you can do this too! Now the downsides: boy, was I ache-y the next day. (We had a stiff chop on our return to Long Beach, and it was a rougher, faster ride. Much respect to the guides: those are some fit folk.) For about a half a day's fun, it is pricey, but for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, it worked for us. Call and talk to one of the staff in advance if you want to know exactly how much you'll pay (ask about parking, that caught us by surprise). Read the reviews below that talk about how much you can bring; we found the storage areas to be larger than expected and totally watertight, but you do have to think about items bouncing around. (An extra beach towel helps with that.) We were happy we had brought lunch, so we didn't have to run around or fight crowds on Catalina. Would I do it again? Nope. Am I glad I did it? Yes.

    An Amazing Experience!

Amazing experience! We started early in Long Beach, met our guides Zack and Ryan, and got our wetsuits and safety briefing. It was a little foggy but the ocean was so calm it felt more like a lake. At our first stop we saw some sea lions. Not to long after that we encountered a pod of dolphins. Seeing the dolphins up close, and in the wild was worth the whole trip. At Catalina Island, we had plenty of time to eat, hike, and explore. By the time we left it was a clear blue sky. We stopped to swim through some nearby caves, and then headed back to Long Beach. The return trip had some larger waves, but overall, it was a great adventure. The guides really do a fantastic job, I highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for an adventurous day on the ocean.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Long Beach.

How much does Guided Dolphin Jet Ski Adventure | Long Beach to Catalina Island cost?

    +

Prices start at $640 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Long Beach usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Guided Dolphin Jet Ski Adventure | Long Beach to Catalina Island take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Long Beach is not rushed.

Is Guided Dolphin Jet Ski Adventure | Long Beach to Catalina Island worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 45 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Long Beach, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Guided Dolphin Jet Ski Adventure | Long Beach to Catalina Island?

Is Guided Dolphin Jet Ski Adventure | Long Beach to Catalina Island suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Guided Dolphin Jet Ski Adventure | Long Beach to Catalina Island?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Long Beach can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Long Beach and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Guided Dolphin Jet Ski Adventure | Long Beach to Catalina Island start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Long Beach within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Long Beach?

    +

Long Beach runs whale watching out of Rainbow Harbor, Queen Mary tours and ghost walks, harbour cruises, Catalina ferry connections and coastal bike rides. On Outty we rank every Long Beach experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Whale Watching Tour from Long Beach, Skip the Ticketing Line: Aquarium of the Pacific General Admission Ticket, Shared 8-Hour Los Angeles City Sightseeing Tour from Long Beach. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Long Beach?

    +

Year-round whale watching; May to October for the best harbour weather. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Long Beach?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
