    Family Day!

It’s my second time there but it’s my husband’s and daughter’s first time. We all enjoyed it. We walk around to see the light house after. Long Beach is stunning!

    What a beautiful...

What a beautiful facility, well designed and spacious. I particularly enjoyed the jellyfish area and the large viewing tank

    via Viator

    Robert_M · September 2026

    Too crowded

Be prepared to be engulfed in a swarm of kids, toddlers in strollers and a mass of humanity. The exhibits are interesting and there’s something for everyone, from the sea lions to jellyfish to tropical birds to tree frogs. But try to avoid a Saturday afternoon.

    It was okay

It was extremely busy and it was hard to figure out where to go and what to do. Not sure if we saw the whole lot but the jellyfish exhibit was amazing.

    Educational

A lot of kids running around parents weren’t watching kids screaming, and yelling didn’t have a map to see if I got to see all the exhibits

That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 509 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Long Beach, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Long Beach and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

Long Beach runs whale watching out of Rainbow Harbor, Queen Mary tours and ghost walks, harbour cruises, Catalina ferry connections and coastal bike rides. On Outty we rank every Long Beach experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Whale Watching Tour from Long Beach, Queen Mary Glory Days Historical Tour, Shared 8-Hour Los Angeles City Sightseeing Tour from Long Beach. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Long Beach?

    +

Year-round whale watching; May to October for the best harbour weather. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Long Beach?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
