About this experience

Nestled in the mountains, Guanajuato is a dazzling city where colorful houses climb the hills and history fills every corner. This 8–9 hour tour, departing from San Miguel de Allende, takes you through the city’s highlights: the majestic Teatro Juárez, the University of Guanajuato, the bustling Hidalgo Market, and the romantic Alley of the Kiss. Optional visits include the Diego Rivera House Museum or the intriguing Mummy Museum, and you can choose between exploring a historic mine or the elegant Ex Hacienda de San Gabriel de Barrera with its gardens. A very pleasant and informative experience.

Loved our Guanajuato city tour. Our guide Aarón was so knowledgeable and pleasant. We felt like we were getting a insiders look at beautiful and culturally significant city from an old friend who was also a history professor. We packed a lot into the day and were sorry it had to come to an end.

Art- By God

God is so good! Peru owes me nothing, remember the proper cord adapter for charging, exchange your money, know some spanish or google translate heavy, walk and see, spend with locals, enjoy the food. Definitely a place to visit more than once.

Superb Day Tour

Aaron was a fabulous guide. We found his English very easy to understand. His knowledge superb. We adapted the tour on the go to include things we wanted to see and do. All in all - a great day out.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much Belinda for your comments and rating! I'm glad you enjoyed the tour to Guanajuato. Aarón.

Great day trip touring Guanajuato with Aaron

We are a family of 4 adults (including 2 older adults), and did the Guanajuato City Tour with Aaron. We highly recommend it. Aaron picked us up in a minivan, drove us from San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato and back, and spent the day with us walking around the city, showing us the sights and explaining everything. We ended up skipping the hacienda/silver mine option because we were already tired and it was getting late. Also, we were originally interested in the "mummy museum", but after discussion with Aaron we ended up choosing the Diego Rivera museum instead, and were glad that we did. Aaron's English is outstanding, and he is very articulate and knowledgable. He is also very pleasant and patient. This tour is definitely worthwhile, and I would highly recommend Aaron as a guide. I encourage you to call him directly to discuss your planned trip and any questions or modifications that you would want (Phone: +52 442 407 8068).

Response from the operator: Thank you Sharon for your nice comments and rating! It was a lovely day with you all. Aarón.

Guanajuato City Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Miguel de Allende.

How much does Guanajuato City Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $106 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Miguel de Allende usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Guanajuato City Tour take?

+

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Miguel de Allende is not rushed.

Is Guanajuato City Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Miguel de Allende, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Guanajuato City Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Guanajuato City Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Guanajuato City Tour?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Miguel de Allende can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Miguel de Allende and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Guanajuato City Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Miguel de Allende within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in San Miguel de Allende?

+

On Outty we rank every San Miguel de Allende experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Historical and Cultural Walking Tour of San Miguel de Allende, Tacos and Tequila Walking Tour with Taste of Miguel, Immersive Cañada de La Virgen Pyramid Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit San Miguel de Allende?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in San Miguel de Allende?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
