Such a perfect way to hike Grand Canyon
Kevin was a fantastic guide, and my husband, my 17 year old son, and I all agree our day couldn’t have been better. He paced our hike perfectly, and kept us going at a pace which somehow worked for all of us, taught us a bunch, and the food!!! We all were well fed w snacks and lunch, even the gluten free and dairy free folks. I’ve hiked Grand Canyon years ago and still to this day remember being terrified. Not today!! I felt safe every step of the way. If you are thinking of hiking with them, DO IT!! You will be so glad you did.
Response from the operator: Kevin said he was impressed that everybody did so well. Thanks so much for spending your vacation time with us, and we really hope those photos will last a lifetime.

A fantastic experience from start to finish
The perfect way to experience the Grand Canyon! From start to finish every detail was perfect. Jon answered all of our questions before booking and was flexible when we asked to change the date of our hike. Kevin, our guide was on time, provided good background details, made sure we were comfortable and safe throughout our hike. The scenery, the day, the hike all amazing!
Response from the operator: Kevin said. You were an absolute blast to hike with and the day was just perfect. I know you got some amazing pictures and we so appreciate you spending your vacation time with us.

Amazing and Breathtaking - worth every penny
We signed up to take a private day hike (me, my wife and 25 year old daughter). All of us are inexperienced hikers, but in relatively good shape. Kevin was our guide and he was absolutely incredible. Experienced, funny, kind and 100% focused on us having a great experience. We were so lucky to have him as he expertly navigated us through a trail that was covered in ice and snow at the top and then mostly mud. His humor and knowledge made the entire hike one of the most memorable experiences we have had. I cannot recommend Only Grand Canyon enough.
Response from the operator: Kevin said you were a blast to hike with and the day was just amazing. Thanks so much for coming out and spending your vacation time with us,

July South Rim Grand Canyon Tour
This was the highlight of our trip! We are a family of five, 2 adults and 3 boys all in their early twenties/late teens and we all agreed this tour is the only way to hike the Grand Canyon. Our tour guide, Kevin, was amazing & made sure we had a great experience. He provided tons of information & facts along the hike & also kept us well hydrated, well fed & safe. We celebrated a big birthday & Kevin had a nice surprise for us at sunset. He was a great guide and extra bonus was that he was a great chef & photographer as well!
Response from the operator: Kevin said the birthday party was really really great and that you guys enjoyed the sunset. Thanks so much for spending your vacation time with us and we appreciate your generosity.

Incredible Family Hike Experience
I can’t express how amazing our experience was from start to finish. My mom has always loved the Grand Canyon and we thought it would be really special to have all 3 generations of us hike into it together for my daughter’s first trip to see it. Jon walked me through everything and made us feel that the trip would be catered to suit us as the ages range from 11-73. When we met on the day of the trip I could tell he had remembered all of the details I had told him over the phone. He truly cares that you have a safe and wonderful time. They also have backpacks with everything you could possibly need with amazing snacks! Our guide picked us up in Flagstaff and was with us the whole time. Kristen was truly awesome looking out for us, walking us through any points that made us nervous or were a little harder (going up), and she is just fun to be around. Hiking into the canyon is alone an awe inspiring experience but Jon and his crew still managed to make it even better. Thank you so much from our family for this memorable and perfect day!
Response from the operator: That really was a perfect day and I'm so glad you appreciate our attention to detail. Just trying to give you the best vacation ever. Enjoy those crazy photos and I know the kids will remember this forever, JON

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Grand Canyon Private Below the Rim Hiking Tour from Flagstaff: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Flagstaff.
How much does Grand Canyon Private Below the Rim Hiking Tour from Flagstaff cost?
+
Prices start at $319 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Flagstaff usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Grand Canyon Private Below the Rim Hiking Tour from Flagstaff take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Flagstaff is not rushed.
Is Grand Canyon Private Below the Rim Hiking Tour from Flagstaff worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Flagstaff, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Grand Canyon Private Below the Rim Hiking Tour from Flagstaff?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Grand Canyon Private Below the Rim Hiking Tour from Flagstaff suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Grand Canyon Private Below the Rim Hiking Tour from Flagstaff?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Flagstaff can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Flagstaff and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Grand Canyon Private Below the Rim Hiking Tour from Flagstaff start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Flagstaff within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Flagstaff?
+
Flagstaff sits at 7,000 feet between the Grand Canyon, Sedona and Antelope Canyon: day tours to all three, plus Lowell Observatory stargazing and Route 66 history walks. On Outty we rank every Flagstaff experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small-Group Grand Canyon Day Tour from Flagstaff, Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Day Tour from Flagstaff, Grand Canyon Tour from Flagstaff. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Flagstaff?
+
May to October for canyon trips, December to March for snow at Snowbowl. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Flagstaff?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
