Kind, friendly and helpful staff! An amazing day out!
We had an incredible time with their bikes. Staff were friendly and informative. We spent at least half the day exploring the park. Got lost once called them and they answered the phone (a modern miracle!) to guide us out of our mistake,. We really really recommend doing this you see so much more by bike and can stop and lock up for refreshments too. The park has ok bathrooms around too.

Rude. Unprofessional. Junky Bikes.
Terrible experience. My family of 3 experienced cyclists rented to go around GG park. We were told to go for a test drive to make sure everything was operable. We came back 12 minutes later because the gears were not working correctly and one of the seats was broken. When we came back we were told “ we can’t refund you because you were gone tomorrow than 5 minutes and went too far”. Even though we weren’t told the test drive needed to be 5 minutes or less and he had no idea how far we went. We went less than a half mile because we stopped a zillion times to mess with the gears and seat. The staff was really rude and when I called the office they were also rude. They said the “time stamp” showed I was gone for 30 minutes. Which means the staff marked my arrival after our heated argument. I could see that the ones were just junk and they are just out to take your money. They have a monopoly on the bike rental market and don’t need to offer good service or well maintained bikes.
Response from the operator: Hi, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your family experienced issues with the bikes and that you were disappointed with your interactions with our staff. We understand how frustrating it is to have your ride interrupted, particularly when you had planned to enjoy a day riding through Golden Gate Park. Before each rental, our staff asks customers to take a short test ride to make sure the bike is comfortable and operating properly. We also provide a support number on the bike map, and our rescue team is available throughout the day to troubleshoot mechanical issues or arrange a replacement bike whenever possible. Had the bike been brought back immediately so we could address the issues before the rental continued, we would have been happy to assist with the gears and seat and work toward resolving the issues at the time. Unfortunately, because the mechanical concerns were brought to our attention after the rental was already underway, we were not given the opportunity to address them during the rental. When you returned, our staff did offer to extend your rental time and provide rental credit that could be used toward another day as a courtesy. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach a mutually agreeable resolution at the time. We also take your comments regarding the condition of the bikes and your experience with our staff seriously. Our mechanics work hard to maintain our fleet, and we will inspect the bikes involved to ensure any issues are addressed. While we are unable to issue a refund under these circumstances, we'd still like to offer a one-time courtesy by placing the value of your reservation "on ice." This would allow you to use the value of your booking toward a future rental. Simply email us when you're ready to rebook, and we'll be happy to arrange a new date. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. We hope you'll give us another opportunity to provide your family with the experience we strive to deliver.

Bad experience
Rented two bikes for the whole day, arrived during opening hours.........closed :-( So no bikes for that one day in San Francisco!!! Eventually, the problem was neatly resolved by Bay City Bike Rentals and they handled it perfectly. So next time straight to Bay City Bike Rentals!!!

Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Golden Gate Park Bike Rental: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.
How much does Golden Gate Park Bike Rental cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Golden Gate Park Bike Rental take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.
Is Golden Gate Park Bike Rental worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Golden Gate Park Bike Rental?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Golden Gate Park Bike Rental suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Golden Gate Park Bike Rental?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Golden Gate Park Bike Rental start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Francisco?
+
San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Francisco?
+
September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Francisco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
