Unforgettable overwhelming experience
We did the full day whale watching tour about a week ago. We are still flashed and being at home and viewing the photographs we are again on the boat and see the whales. Maitreya is the perfect skipper and guide. We felt safe all the time. Barbara got her gluten-free meal as we had a wonderful break somewhere and that was perfect as well. We saw Orcas (a bit far away) bur we also saw the Humpback close by and jumping. I am sure we will not forget that. We learned a lot about the environment and nature of the area and the whales in a very good way. We enjoyed the whole trip a lot and would have never missed it. Thank you also for the good advice when I booked the tour what might be best in our case. If I could give six stars in the review you get.

Whales and a wonderful day on the water!
What a wonderful day on the water with Wild Waterways on Quadra Island! Reuben was an exceptional guide—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the wildlife and the area. And we absolutely loved having his wonderful dog, Tasu, along for the adventure! The wildlife viewing was spectacular. We saw humpback whales, Steller sea lions feasting on salmon, and, to top it all off, orcas! The scenery was breathtaking, and the terrific lunch made an already memorable day even better.

Absolute Must Do!
We went on our full day whale watching tour with our guide, Reuben. He was incredibly friendly from the very beginning when he came to pick us up from Campbell River and it showed he really cares about the job he does. The thermal suits were brilliant for keeping us warm and the boat was by far the comfiest and fastest I’ve been on throughout all of the tours. Even better, his dog Tassu came along for the ride and she was the friendliest dog I’ve ever met! The whale watching was absolutely amazing, we started the day with finding humpbacks and watching them surfacing and then diving and showing their flukes. After this, we went looking for Transient Orca and after about an hour of driving on the boat we found them, we kept pace with them for about an hour, watching them swim along, surfacing, diving and even breaching which is incredibly rare. We then got ahead of the Orca and stopped on a rocky beach for lunch, Reuben had prepared some very tasty sandwiches and had also brought plenty of crisps, fruit and hot and cold drinks. It was a really relaxing lunch and it all tasted great. Whilst we were sat on the beach, the Orca that we’d been following earlier arrived and having sensed our presence, came to check us out with them being less than 30-40m off shore We then followed the pod again as they moved through Toba inlet and whilst we parked up ahead of them they swam right in front of us giving us the most amazing view to finish the day on. A special shout out also to Blair, the wildlife photographer, who joined us on the trip and helped to provide some really useful tips and tricks. It really added to the friendly nature of the tour!

Once in a lifetime experience!
My friend and I had the most incredible full day tour with our guide Benji. We saw two different ecotypes of orcas, tons of humpbacks, sea lions, bears, and more. Benji is super knowledgeable, charismatic, and not to mention very charming. I highly recommend this tour!

Full Day Whale Watching Campbell River: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vancouver Island.
How much does Full Day Whale Watching Campbell River cost?
+
Prices start at $259 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vancouver Island usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full Day Whale Watching Campbell River take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vancouver Island is not rushed.
Is Full Day Whale Watching Campbell River worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 79 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vancouver Island, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Whale Watching Campbell River?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full Day Whale Watching Campbell River suitable for kids and families?
+

How far in advance should I book Full Day Whale Watching Campbell River?
+
Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vancouver Island can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vancouver Island and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full Day Whale Watching Campbell River start and how do I get there?
+

What are the best things to do in Vancouver Island?
+

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Vancouver Island?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Vancouver Island?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
