Beautiful island, with lots of marine life
This tour was great, the bus ride is a bit long, but once you get to the island you forget how long it took you to get there. The water is crystal clear, there are a lot of fish and marine life in general. The guides bring fruit and drinks, and some snacks. You can take pictures, snorkel, or just relax in the water. On the way back we went through the mangroves, I was not very interested on that, but I was pleasantly surprised, the boat ride became a thrill ride, I loved it. After that you go to have lunch at a nearby place. I have to say I was disappointed with the lunch. It was not enough, it was no good nor tasty, and there was not even candy as dessert. This is the reason why I do not give a 5 on this review. After lunch, on the ride back, you stop at a small farm where they show you how to roll tobbacco leaves and how to grind coffee, it was a very interesting experience for my kids. Overall, it was a great tour except for lunch.

Beautiful island
I wish we stayed at the paradise island longer. It was a long day of transportation and lots of stops to pickup n drop off people at their hotels. The island itself was an amazing experience and it couldve been even more memorable if we stayed longer to enjoy.

Ok Trip, Needs Improve
Overall the trip was fine but way too disorganized for our liking. Here were the cons to the trip: Our transport bus was way too cramped with little to no AC at the beginning, it’s hazardous and a potential death trap with locked windows. Although we were moved to a bigger bus with better AC and space, there were way too many people to be picked up and dropped off. Priority was made to mainstream hotels in Puerto Plata rather than those at the outskirts (Ie. Cabarete and Sosua). This means we spent four hours on what should’ve been a two hour commute to the island. The island is a sandbar with no space to sit down or shelter from the sun. The water provided may have been tainted/polluted which could result in poisoning for some folks. There wasn’t enough equipment for snorkeling and the guide did not wait for all clients to see if they were interested in joining. Our initial driver did not stay with us to provide us with transport at the end. We stayed longer than expected in the bigger bus until we got another driver. Despite these flaws, there were several positives. The employees really do go out of their way to be accommodating, our guide (Mendy) was super knowledgeable in both cultures and languages, the workers on the boat tried their hardest to help us feel safe while also having fun, and the food at the restaurant was delicious! My recommendations: the disorganization is a management/owner problem, not the employees! They are focusing more on maximizing profits rather than client comfort. I would suggest management focus on providing different packages based on location:one for puerto plate hotels, the other package for the outskirts (Cabarete and Sosua) with each different transport and guides. This should help with the disorganization. Build stronger and safer huts with seats in the sandbar, provide bottled water rather than tap water for guests. Provide an option button for snorkeling during reservation. This way guides can document who needs equipment and who wants to join. Overall there is potential in this trip tour but management has to be willing to make the changes to get better results and better client reviews. Hope this helps!

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full Day Tour to Paradise Island - Cayo Arena: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Plata.
How much does Full Day Tour to Paradise Island - Cayo Arena cost?
+
Prices start at $92 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Plata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full Day Tour to Paradise Island - Cayo Arena take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Plata is not rushed.
Is Full Day Tour to Paradise Island - Cayo Arena worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 26 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Plata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Tour to Paradise Island - Cayo Arena?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full Day Tour to Paradise Island - Cayo Arena suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full Day Tour to Paradise Island - Cayo Arena?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Plata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Plata and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full Day Tour to Paradise Island - Cayo Arena start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Plata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Puerto Plata?
+
On Outty we rank every Puerto Plata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monkeyland and Zipline Adventure from Puerto Plata, Monkeyland Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata Highlights City Tours from amber cove and Taino bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Puerto Plata?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
