The population of Colchani has 580 inhabitants whose economic activities are linked to the extraction of salt, agriculture (real quinoa), crafts and tourism. Your next stop will be the enchanting Salar de Uyuni, which is the largest salt desert in the world. It has an area of more than 10,000 square kilometers and is located at 3,653 meters above sea level in the Bolivian altiplano. At the southeast end of the Salar de Uyuni, you will visit the salt mounds which come from saline extraction. This process begins with the delimitation of the place, later the manual shredding is carried out and finally this salt is exposed to the sun to dry in small pyramid shapes.

Our guide will accompany you to Incahuasi Island, characterized by being one of the high altitude islands whose soil is made up of fossils of algae, mollusks and other organisms known as stromatolites. There a vegetation composed of cactaceous plants develops. It is located in the central part, 74 km from Colchani. It has a steep surface of 24 hectares and the highest point is 40 meters above the salt level.
