Private Knights Templar tour
It was an amazing trip and Hugo was an excellent guide. He even picked out an awesome local cafe for lunch….. would highly recommend this adventure!!!

Hugo is a FABULOUS guide - Ask for him! RECOMMEND!!!
Hugo was a EXCELLENT guide. This is truly a private, guided tour. And it should be for the cost. The greatest part of the tour was the visit to the Knights Templar castle. An INCREDIBLE site to visit. There were several sites listed on the description that we did not get to see bc they were closed. I would double check before you book to make sure what they say is included…is actually included. Hugo made up for this by taking us to other sites but it was a bit disappointing. My 81 year old Dad was with me and Hugo was incredibly respectful and considerate of him and his needs which was greatly appreciated. All in all, I would recommend.
Response from the operator: Hi, Thank you so much for your words. It sure was a wonderful day with your beautiful family. Please come back to revisit us. Regards.

Hugo was a fantastic tour guide!
Our tour guide, Hugo, had to walk up the hill to our hotel because cars aren't allowed on the street but he was very friendly and accepting of this inconvenience. Then, as we set out for Tomar, he gave us some interesting information about Lisbon while driving out of the city. Once we left the suburbs, Hugo asked about what we wanted to see and do. I told him I read a book about the Templars and only a small portion of the book talked about the Templars in Portugal and I'd like to know more. He knew a lot about the order and we discussed their history almost all the way to Tomar. We saw a fantastic castle and monastary then we went to visit the church where Templars were buried. Hugo showed us around the beautiful town of Tomar then he took us to an amazing little restaurant that is loved by the locals. He timed it perfectly because we were seated and served immediately but, when we left, there was a line to get in. The meal and drinks were all included in the tour, as was admission to all the sites we visited. To make a long story short, Hugo showed us several more historically significant sites and gave us a great understanding of them. Later that afternoon, he took us to a wonderful pastry shop. We sat outside and had pastry and coffee and enjoyed the beautiful view of an 800 year-old monastary. It was a nice way to finish off the day before driving back to Lisbon. I highly reccomend this tour and Hugo was a great guide.

Informative & Fun Day!
This historical tour takes you to 3 different castles throughout the day. The castle with the most to see and learn is the one we went to first, Convent of Christ. There you will pay an entry fee and walk around on your own. They are known for their manueline window. The other 2 castles are smaller and there is nothing to do inside. The 2nd one was closed so we just walked around it, literally. The 3rd one you must take a small boat to get to. You will pay the fee at the dock and take the boat over yourself. To know these castles have been around since the Crusades was fascinating to me but overall the day was pretty low key and not THAT exciting. If you are really into history you will enjoy the day. Our guide (driver) was friendly, professional, and helpful!

Dont waste your money with this tour...

Dont waste your money with this tour company. While our guide was kind, he offered little or no value to this tour. Quite frankly, he knew nothing about the topic, and we had to google everything to learn about the sites. Pretty much, he was nothing more than a very expensive driver for the day. We felt as If hed rather not be doing the tour. He was not engaged at all. We learned absolutely nothing about Knights Templar or Portugal. Only positive, the sites were beautiful.

RIP OFF. Wish I could get a refund.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full-Day Private Tomar, Knights Templar and Castles Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Full-Day Private Tomar, Knights Templar and Castles Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $295 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full-Day Private Tomar, Knights Templar and Castles Tour take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Full-Day Private Tomar, Knights Templar and Castles Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full-Day Private Tomar, Knights Templar and Castles Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full-Day Private Tomar, Knights Templar and Castles Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full-Day Private Tomar, Knights Templar and Castles Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full-Day Private Tomar, Knights Templar and Castles Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
