Beautiful Day on the AT with SMG
The organisation of the trip was very clear The team were super helpful in making my trip happen as I was without a US number and we had to communicate through email only. Plus I didn't have a car to get me to the trailhead. Thank you so much to Marci and her team for all the communication and especially to Wes who was a top guide and great company. Walking pace was good and we had time to stop and just take in the awesome surroundings. Early start ensured we had a clear trail on the way up and Charlie's Bunion to ourselves. This was a 6 year dream come true to hike some of the AT. Thank you again for the SMG team for helping to make it happen. Will definitely be back for more. 😀🤩
Response from the operator: This is so good to hear. Thank you for sharing all about your experience.

Awesome hike to Charlie’s Bunion
This was a great hike! I had the absolute pleasure of having Wes as my guide for the day. The views were spectacular and I had a blast! Wes was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the trails, the Smokies, and so many other things. The trail and Wes were so much fun, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a day in Great Smoky Mountain National Park!
Response from the operator: Awesome to hear. So glad it was a great day in the Park.

Wes, a true southern gentleman
Thank y’all for an amazing and fantastic hike in the Smokys, one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide Wes made a great hike even more memorable, a real southern gentleman with a great sense of humor. He patiently took care of us in the best possible way, bless our hearts. We will be back!
Response from the operator: Bless your heart. Haha Great to have you

It’s a must!
Absolutely would recommend a tour with Smokey mountain guides and if you have any luck, you’ll have Wes! His knowledge of the Great Smokey Mountains is exceptional and his great sense of humor was aWESome. He’s like Mary Poppins of the mountains with his backpack and umbrella. The hike was educational, fun and we would do it all again tomorrow. Do not hesitate to book with them!
Response from the operator: Thank you for this great review and comments. We are very thankful for your business

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full Day Hike to Charlies Bunion on the Appalachian Trail: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Gatlinburg.
How much does Full Day Hike to Charlies Bunion on the Appalachian Trail cost?
+
Prices start at $400 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Gatlinburg usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full Day Hike to Charlies Bunion on the Appalachian Trail take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Gatlinburg is not rushed.
Is Full Day Hike to Charlies Bunion on the Appalachian Trail worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Gatlinburg, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Hike to Charlies Bunion on the Appalachian Trail?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full Day Hike to Charlies Bunion on the Appalachian Trail suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full Day Hike to Charlies Bunion on the Appalachian Trail?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Gatlinburg can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Gatlinburg and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full Day Hike to Charlies Bunion on the Appalachian Trail start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Gatlinburg within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Gatlinburg?
+
Gatlinburg is the front door to Great Smoky Mountains National Park: guided hikes to waterfalls, Cades Cove wildlife loops, ziplines, whitewater rafting on the Pigeon River and moonshine tastings in town. Trailhead transport is the main logistics question. On Outty we rank every Gatlinburg experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Ultimate Wine, Shine & Bourbon Experience, The "Classic" National Park Tour, Mountaintop Zipline 2-Hours Activity. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Gatlinburg?
+
April to June and October for autumn colour. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Gatlinburg?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
