Great crew and nice dive.
The day started at 7:15 am when we were picked up (on time) by a small bus where around 28 people could be seated. We drove around for around 45 minutes picking up other tourists and then went to a drop off point where the tourists had to transfer to their bus. In our case it was a smaller bus to the harbour for the scuba diving trip. This was from Punta Cana to La Romana around a 1 hour and 15 minute drive and was fine. Arriving at the boat we were greeted and helped aboard by the crew. In case you are going scuba diving, a medical and liability form must be signed (this is a must). Joël was our diving instructor and really took care of us with clear instructions. We are beginners who had dived 2 times before and did make it a bit easier for us. This trip was very pleasant and maybe from my end it would have been good to mention that I’m a big guy. Joël luckily had 1 scuba vest that fitted me. The dive was nice and Joël quickly adjusted the weights to ensure a comfortable swim/dive. In our case the water was pretty clear but not crystal clear. We saw a stingray, multiple puffer fish, a big Lion fish and many colourfull other beautiful fish. During the dive we were escorted by Joël and crewmember which made us feel secure and well taken care of. Pictures are made during the dive and there is an option to purchase these. After the second dive we were brought to Catalina Island where there was a nice bbq with good food and open bar. During the day the crew was very helpfull. On the way back the crew also entertained the people on the boat with dance and music. We also got drinks and water was available. All and all a nice experience. The drive back was in one go from La Romana to our hotel. We arrived back at around 19:15.

Great diving. Great price for the day. Bad transportation and communication.
The boat, boat crew, and diving guides were awesome. Both dives were amazing. Catalina island after to relax was a great addition. Transportation and the communication around transportation was very poor. Were an hour late for pick up and got home two hours later than the schedule. Overall great adventure for the price.

Long day with average experience
We are a family of four (3 adults and one teen) and overall the we are rating this tour as an average. 1) ground transportation was very chaotic, we were picked up by the resort at 7am and were drop off by a parking area and waited for about 1.5 hours to get on a small van to depart to the marina, the 1.5 hours was for the various drivers to get things sorted out. It could have been a lot more organized. Also, the van picked up few more local people along the way, almost acting like a taxi in order to make more pocket money. By the time we got to the marine it was almost at 10am. 2) the dive equipment were relatively old and don’t seem the cleanest either. If you do go with this tour, make sure to do equipment testing. My son’s second tank was almost empty, lower than 50 bar. And it was only a 42 min dive. Either the tank was leaking or he was given the same tank from the first dive. Whenever we dive before, my son doesn’t consume that much tank air compared to the rest of us since he is more relaxed under water in general. 3) the dive itself was pretty good. The dive master was attentive and points out things to look for. 4) the island is beautiful and the lunch food was decent 5) the returned ground transportation was slightly better as compared to the departure one. The van was already there when we got off the boat. However,.. only that the driver dropped us off at a souvenir store for a while (force shopping time) before letting us to get on another van to get back to the resort. Overall it was a very long day. If they can reduce ground transportation time, it would have been a much experience.

Why this scores 45
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full-Day Catalina Island Scuba Diving Tour from Punta Cana: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.
How much does Full-Day Catalina Island Scuba Diving Tour from Punta Cana cost?
+
Prices start at $145 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full-Day Catalina Island Scuba Diving Tour from Punta Cana take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.
Is Full-Day Catalina Island Scuba Diving Tour from Punta Cana worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 45 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full-Day Catalina Island Scuba Diving Tour from Punta Cana?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full-Day Catalina Island Scuba Diving Tour from Punta Cana suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full-Day Catalina Island Scuba Diving Tour from Punta Cana?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full-Day Catalina Island Scuba Diving Tour from Punta Cana start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?
+
On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Punta Cana?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
