Established in 1945, Scenic World began when Harry Hammon, a local entrepreneur, had the vision to transform a former coal mine into an iconic tourist attraction. When the Katoomba Colliery closed in 1945, Harry recognised an opportunity to innovate - he converted the old coal skips and existing rail track into a passenger train, creating what is still the world’s steepest passenger train. Beautiful day in the Blue Mountains

A lovely day out in the Blue Mountains thanks to our tour guide Jason and driver Paul (and the weather Gods!!). The scenery was breathtaking, and the walk at the Scenic World amazing. I highly recommend this "large group" tour to anyone like me who's slightly (or very) introvert; I didn't have to make conversation and feel uneasy, and could keep to myself.

Response from the operator: Ah that review makes my day and thanks so much for your kind words. The large coach isn’t for everyone but some people love it. Thanks again and safe travels. Chapo

    Big disappointment

Wasn’t as described. The time at the Blue Mountains was 30 minutes less than advertised and many in our group weren’t able to do all three rides. Yes, the lines were long but should not have come as a surprise given the holidays. The driver and Jordan were nice. It would have been nice if our guide (Jordan) was more than just someone who passed out tickets. He didn’t really seem to acknowledge our disappointment at missing the gondola saying it wasn’t that good of a ride instead. The final straw was when he was sleeping on the return trip and then shared that upon our return he was off to picnic with his family. I can’t help thinking that his plans might have played a role in our abbreviated trip. We shouldn’t have to choose whether to get food or see the sights. Look for a trip that is more than 9 hours long or doesn’t go to both the wildlife park and the Blue Mountains.

Response from the operator: Laurie we don’t have a tour called Jordan 🤷‍♂️ I actually called our tour guide that was running the large coach and he most certainly didn’t sleep on the way back in fact quite the opposite he was chatting with the driver almost all of the way. With over 75 large buses in the mountains that day I’m not sure you have the correct tour. Chapo

Wonderful tour of the blue mountains

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The driver was great. He got us to places early before the rush and made each stop memorable with good tips.

Response from the operator: Thanks for your 5 star review. Chapo

Hayden made a special trip even more special

This group was highly recommended by the Four Seasons concierge. We did an all day private tour (3 of us) of the Blue Mountains, with a stop at the wildlife park where we saw all of the native and unusual Australian animals (except the platypus). The scenery, and animals, alone, would have made this trip special and worthwhile. But Hayden made it even better. On the way to the Blue Mountains we saw wild kangaroos and wallabies. The Blue Mountains are spectacular, and the mine train ride was as good as any amusement park ride. Hayden was knowledgable, friendly and funny. He also could not have been more accommodating. Apparently there is a running debate about who is the better tour guide - Hayden or Chappo. Would be hard to pick a winner as they are both fantastic.

Response from the operator: We love the rivalry 😂 it was a pleasure meeting the three of you and I’m glad Hayden has left a terrific impression on your experience with our business and Australia. Safe travels back to the United States. Chapo

Full Day Blue Mountains Large Coach Scenic World Kangaroos Koalas: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.

How much does Full Day Blue Mountains Large Coach Scenic World Kangaroos Koalas cost?

    +

Prices start at $225 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Full Day Blue Mountains Large Coach Scenic World Kangaroos Koalas take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.

Is Full Day Blue Mountains Large Coach Scenic World Kangaroos Koalas worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Blue Mountains Large Coach Scenic World Kangaroos Koalas?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Full Day Blue Mountains Large Coach Scenic World Kangaroos Koalas suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Full Day Blue Mountains Large Coach Scenic World Kangaroos Koalas?

    +

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Full Day Blue Mountains Large Coach Scenic World Kangaroos Koalas start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sydney?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Chef-Led Hunter Valley Gourmet Food and Wine Day Tour from Sydney, Ultimate Sydney Walking Tour (Small-Group, Drink Included). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sydney?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sydney?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
