A perfect day
We were warned that a full-day trip to Paestum from Sorrento might be too much given Amalfi Coast traffic and early-November daylight, but it was, in a word, perfect. Our driver (Filippo Esposito) had a wealth of local knowledge that made the Amalfi Coast drive even richer and more fascinating, the traffic was so light (and the weather so unseasonably beautiful) that we managed a 45-minute stop in Amalfi and still got to Paestum ahead of schedule, and our guide (Ivan Tornese) is not only a native of the Paestum area but an archaeologist who has worked extensively at that site and gave us the ultimate first-hand perspective on what is still being discovered there. Our expectations were high and they were still exceeded at every turn.
Response from the operator: Hi I want to thank you for your kind feedback. It was a pleasure for me to make your day trip enjoyable

Great Day Of Sight-Seeing
Full and busy day driving the beautiful and rugged Amalfi Coast, 2 stops along the way to walk the towns for about 45 minutes each, followed by a drive to Paestum with a quick lunch and guided tour. Both the driver and guide were personable and pleasant. The ruins are amazing and shockingly empty. The best preserved Greek temples in the world. Don't miss this if you have any interest in ancient history.

Paestum and Amalfi coast
Beautiful drive and stops along the Amalfi Coast to Paestum. Emerald Grotto was a fun experience. The Greek temples and Museum at Paestum are remarkable. It is really nice to be able to walk inside the temples. Both our driver and tour guide were very knowledgeable and friendly.

We had a terrific time on this tour...

We had a terrific time on this tour - our driver was a lot of fun and took his time to make sure we saw everything that we wanted to. He stopped in a number of different towns, some that weren't even on the original agenda, to make sure we got the true local feel for the area. He had selected a very good restaurant for lunch and was professional and courtesy throughout the trip. He was really quite good and we were lucky to have spent the day riding with him. In Paestum, we were also fortunate to have an excellent certified tour guide who patiently went through the history of the area and answered our questions. She was surprised to see Americans come here as it's a bit off the beaten path. I'd highly recommend Paestum as a site to visit just for it's temples, but the museum was very nice as well. If you are in Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, or anywhere on the coast, this is a tour you must book. I'd also note that if you or someone in your group has mobility concerns, this is a great way to visit the coastal cities since you have a driver who can drop you off and pick you up from central locations with the exception of Positano only. I highly recommend this tour.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full-Day archaeological site of Paestum: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sorrento.
How much does Full-Day archaeological site of Paestum cost?
+
Prices start at $1090 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sorrento usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full-Day archaeological site of Paestum take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sorrento is not rushed.
Is Full-Day archaeological site of Paestum worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sorrento, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full-Day archaeological site of Paestum?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full-Day archaeological site of Paestum suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full-Day archaeological site of Paestum?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sorrento can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sorrento and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full-Day archaeological site of Paestum start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sorrento within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sorrento?
+
On Outty we rank every Sorrento experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pizza School with Wine and Limoncello Tasting in a Local Farm, Private Amalfi Coast Day Tour from Sorrento or Naples, Sorrento Farm and Food Experience including Olive Oil, Limoncello, Wine tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sorrento?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sorrento?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
