Incredible experience!
We booked a 3-day trip between Yogyakarta and the Bromo and Ijen volcanoes, with IndoTravelTeam. Everything was excellent from start to finish! Communication was smooth from beginning to end (a little plus if you are French: the manager is French, which makes organizing easier). All the staff took great care of us from our pickup in Yogyakarta until our final drop-off in Bali. Each driver was smiling and pleasant. The excursions to the volcanoes were incredible, with great guides each time who took the time to explain everything to us, answer our questions, and go at our pace, all in a good mood. Special mention to the Good Karma homestay in Ijen; the rooms are very pleasant and the meals are excellent. The staff was impeccable and concerned about our well-being (our son was sick, they treated him with herbal teas!). In short, it is really worth it to be accompanied by a local agency on the volcanoes. It seems very complicated to do them alone independently (and a bit of a shame because the guide really adds their knowledge to the experience). In terms of logistics, you save a lot of time, and we felt pampered from start to finish. Well done IndoTravelTeam!

A life changing experience!
Indo travel team provided a life altering experience for me. The connections, drivers and especially the guides were all top notch. Starting in Bromo, where my guide Deri directed our driver to leave the stream of jeeps in the morning heading to the overlook and brought me to his own trail that we climbed to the temple on and up the mighty staircase to the rim. from there we proceeded to a viewing point overlooking the crater and watched as the fire emerged prior to the magnificent sunrise. we were the only two people on the rim of the crater and as Deri pointed out, the view from the overlook was often obscured by clouds so all those people up there were missing the morning fire and even the view of Bromo much of the time. He gave me time alone with he mountain before we proceeded to the highest viewing spot and after some time began our descent as the hordes from the overlook were just starting to arrive and come up the main trail. Even then he just went over the edge and we bushwhacked down on a trail of his making to the base , never encountering any of the hundreds of people that were making their way up the main trail. He made a long time dream 10x more special and a totally unique to me experience. Then on to Ljen where we stayed at the Good Karma Guesthouse, which unlike the Bromo one of the same name (which is very basic and could use a little upgrade honestly), was spectacular and the staff there made me feel very welcome. Lovely accommodation and vegetarian cuisine, much of it grown on site. Petra gave a thorough description of what to expect and the next morning we met our guide Hari, a former miner who is now a guide. Hari was also amazing, making sure to lead us carefully up the very steep trail that is cluttered with hordes of people and taxis giving people lifts up the impossibly steep slope. He also cut his own trails to get us down into the crater and right up to the blue flame which he made sure we got in the right spots for photos which he took and directed us the whole time. I felt very comfortable with Hari and i was certainly one of the oldest people there that day so had some reservations that I may have gotten in a little over my head. He alleviated any concerns the whole time and made it amazingly special. The experience as a whole is one will never forget and the videos i posted on my Instagram, (#Slamarca62) has everyone I know thinking I'm a rock star. highly recommend Indo Travel Team and this trip! What a mind blowing experience!
Schedule is a bit hectic but so worth it for an amazing experience. Beginning with Bromo you get settled into the guest house which is very rustic and basic so don’t expect a lot of amenities there but staff is wonderful and location is within short walk of amazing viewpoint of Bromo. If you had an opportunity request Deri as your guide. He was amazing and knows Bromo inside and out. While all the groups were heading off to the viewpoint for sunrise, we veered off toward the crater and started our ascent just him and I. We climbed the crater in the dark with him telling me about the area and the history. Arrived at the rim of the crater in the dark and walked to a viewing point there to watch the fire while behind us anyone at the viewpoint was staring at clouds that had rolled in. Had an amazing 30 minutes there before heading higher up to the summit to watch sunrise. Also spectacular and we were the only two there. After a while started our descent over the edge of the crater while the crowds were coming up the trail away from us so continuing a solitary experience there. It was a dream to be there and he made it so much more special. By the time we hit to the viewpoint it had cleared and we were the only ones there as well. Deri is the guy! Then off to Ljen where I also stayed at Good Karma guesthouse but this one is amazingly beautiful had built with gardens and beautiful units. Petra and the amazing staff took such good care of us and fed us amazing vegetarian meals prepared with lots of local and home grown ingredients. Cant say enough good things about them. Petra briefed the three of us in this group on what to expect and we left the following morning at 1 am for basecamp and met our guide Hari who was also amazing and was a former miner in Ljen so knows the crater well. A long steep hike comes next I won’t deny it was challenging so mental prep for that. Tons of people up the 6 foot wide path which has slippery spots and rough terrain so use caution. Once you get to the top 90 minutes later all those people converge on a single file entry point to begin the 200m descent to the base of the crater and then all converge again in a single point on a ledge right next to the fire for a photo op. Everyone wants to beat that point so guides usher people up and down to get their moment and then continue to other viewing spots close by and to sulphur area. It is unlike anything you will ever experience again. I have video posted on Instagram to check out if you like #trekkintheringoffire. You won’t believe it. Sulphuric acid lake (worlds largest) doesn’t really appear until sunrise even though it is right there so any moisture in the crater base is actually acid. Highly dangerous so listen to your guide. Hari was the best again so would highly recommend him. The miners are gathering sulphur and lugging it back to the rim through the crowds who part to give them the right of way as we all go back up to the rim to view the lake and then begin final descent. Your legs will know you did this trip the next day but I cat recommend it highly enough and very glad I did this tour! PS I had been the oldest person I saw there that day (63) but mentally prepare and you will be fine.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing such a detailed and inspiring experience 😊 We’re thrilled you embraced the adventure from Mount Bromo to Kawah Ijen. It means a lot to hear how special your time was with Deri and Hari, and that you enjoyed the unique approach away from the crowds. We’ll also pass your kind words to the team at Good Karma and Petra. You described this journey perfectly, intense, raw and unforgettable. Huge respect for completing it, and thank you for trusting Indotravelteam 🙏

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
From Yogyakarta to Bali : Bromo and Kawah Ijen in 3 Day Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Yogyakarta.
How much does From Yogyakarta to Bali : Bromo and Kawah Ijen in 3 Day Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $319 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Yogyakarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does From Yogyakarta to Bali : Bromo and Kawah Ijen in 3 Day Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 72 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Yogyakarta is not rushed.
Is From Yogyakarta to Bali : Bromo and Kawah Ijen in 3 Day Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Yogyakarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule From Yogyakarta to Bali : Bromo and Kawah Ijen in 3 Day Adventure?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is From Yogyakarta to Bali : Bromo and Kawah Ijen in 3 Day Adventure suitable for kids and families?

How far in advance should I book From Yogyakarta to Bali : Bromo and Kawah Ijen in 3 Day Adventure?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Yogyakarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Yogyakarta and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does From Yogyakarta to Bali : Bromo and Kawah Ijen in 3 Day Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Yogyakarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Yogyakarta?
+
On Outty we rank every Yogyakarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Yogyakarta Private Car Hire with Driver, From Surabaya / Malang : Mt Bromo Sunrise - Ijen Blue Fire 2D1N, Borobudur Full Climb Up And Prambanan ALL INCLUSIVE PRIVATE Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Yogyakarta?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Yogyakarta?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
