Not worth the price paid
We paid $600 for 4 people. They wouldn’t let the kids taste the wine and didn’t offer it to the adults since we paid the same price for all 4 of us. There was a quick “walk” to the vines but never a tour of the winery. After we saw the vineyard we were brought to the dining room to taste 3 wines. Paired with bread/oil, then burrata, then cheeses with jelly. Not worth the price paid at all. After a quick tasting we asked for a glass of our favorite and were told the driver was ready. We left unsatisfied.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few points for future travelers. In Italy, the legal drinking age is 18, so we are unfortunately not permitted to serve wine to minors. Instead, the children in your group were offered juice together with the same selection of local snacks, ensuring they could also enjoy the tasting experience. This experience is primarily designed as a wine tasting tour for adults, and may not be the ideal choice for families with children. Regarding the itinerary, the experience is delivered exactly as described: a private transfer from Rome, a visit to the historic family-owned vineyard and its grounds, a walk through the vineyard (weather and seasonal conditions permitting), followed by a guided tasting of three local wines paired with carefully selected regional specialties. The total duration is approximately 3 hours, as advertised. We truly appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best for your future travels.

Great wine; close to Rome
Overall a nice experience, the hotel pick up is nice, wine and snacks were all very good. That said, for the price, I’d expect more of a tour of the grounds and wine cellar. It was basically a 2 minute, here is where the wine is stored, now hop in your ride home. It could’ve been, like giving one more glass of whichever wine was your favorite to walk the cellar and the grounds a bit before heading out. That would have made it feel more worth the value. Overall, a great experience being so close to Italy but felt there could’ve been more showmanship alongside the amazing wine.
Response from the operator: Dear Tyler, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. We’re very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the wine, the snacks, and the comfort of the hotel pickup. It’s wonderful to know that the overall experience was a positive one. At the same time, we truly appreciate your suggestion regarding a more extended visit of the grounds and wine cellar. The winery experience is designed to focus primarily on a curated tasting led by the host, but we understand how a longer walk through the cellar or additional time exploring the property could enhance the perceived value. Your idea of enjoying an extra glass while walking the grounds is a lovely suggestion, and we will certainly share this feedback with the winery to explore ways to enrich the overall experience. Thank you again for your honest and constructive comments. We’re grateful you chose to experience the Roman countryside with us and hope to welcome you back for another memorable visit.

Great with family!
We had a wonderful time! Max, our personal driver, was phenomenal and prompt. Our 5 year old son loved Valentina as she did him. We were hesitant to take him on a wine tour but he had more fun than us! (And we really enjoyed ourselves)

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
From Rome to the countryside: Private 3-Hour Wine Tasting Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does From Rome to the countryside: Private 3-Hour Wine Tasting Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $122 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does From Rome to the countryside: Private 3-Hour Wine Tasting Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is From Rome to the countryside: Private 3-Hour Wine Tasting Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule From Rome to the countryside: Private 3-Hour Wine Tasting Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is From Rome to the countryside: Private 3-Hour Wine Tasting Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book From Rome to the countryside: Private 3-Hour Wine Tasting Tour?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does From Rome to the countryside: Private 3-Hour Wine Tasting Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
