Do it yourself and avoid disappointment

I recently purchased a “Day Trip to London” package through Viator, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While the concept of a guided tour from Paris to London is appealing, the execution fell significantly short in several critical areas. **Lack of Guidance at Gare du Nord:** First and foremost, there was a glaring absence of clear instructions on where to catch the train at Gare du Nord. As a tourist, I expected some visual cues or guidance, but there was nothing to assist us. This lack of information led to confusion and anxiety, especially as we later learned that customs clearance was necessary before boarding. This unanticipated hurdle contributed to a stressful situation, as we feared missing our train. **Train Ride Experience:** While the train ride itself was enjoyable, it was overshadowed by the logistical issues we faced prior to departure. The stress of navigating Gare du Nord detracted from what should have been a seamless journey. **Arriving in London:** Upon arrival in London, we encountered further disappointment. The guide who was supposed to meet us at the station was nowhere to be found, leaving us completely lost. After a frustrating period of wandering, we eventually located the Hop-on Hop-off bus, but the experience there was equally disheartening. **Hop-on Hop-off Tour Issues:** The tour was supposed to be facilitated through headphones, which unfortunately did not work. Additionally, the bus drivers displayed a lack of professionalism, with many being dismissive and unhelpful when we sought assistance. When our tour guide finally appeared—almost by chance—he promised to provide further guidance on the second level of the bus. However, after riding for about half an hour, I went in search of him only to discover he had left the bus entirely. This lack of organization and accountability was frustrating and rendered the tour a complete waste of time and money. **Final Thoughts:** In hindsight, it would have been far more efficient to book our own train tickets and navigate London independently. The experience with Viator’s package was disappointing, and I cannot recommend it to others. Save your money and consider planning your own trip; it will likely lead to a much more enjoyable experience.

Poor

Golden travel agency did not send us our 5 train tickets to London. We missed our train and had to take a later train.

A stressful way to see London in a day

You need to be at the train station 90 minutes before the train departs - 5:30 am. They don't open the line for security until 6:00. If you get there at 6, you will be so far back in line that you may not make it on the train. It leaves at exactly 7:00 am. There is no one from the tour company to help you navigate the process or to put you in a shorter line. We had enough time to ride the bus and do the boat ride, but not enough time to tour any of the places along the route. So, if you want to SEE London, this is a good plan. If you want to experience any of it, this is not enough time.

Details could have been better

You will need an ETA form to get into London. Had no idea about this till I got to the Eurostar train station. You could take up to five minutes or longer for you to get it so have prior to you going to London. Make sure your VIATOR operator send you your train ticket, also had to call Viator while I was at the train station because I did not have my train tickets.

Terrible

We didn't receive anything advertised on the tour. We called for help and spoke to disrespectful. We could not and did not get back on the location and dropped off in the middle of no where and had to take a bus and train to get back to the Eurostar

From Paris: Free and Easy Day Trip to London by Eurostar Train: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Paris.

How much does From Paris: Free and Easy Day Trip to London by Eurostar Train cost?

+

Prices start at $179 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Paris usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does From Paris: Free and Easy Day Trip to London by Eurostar Train take?

+

Plan for about 15 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Paris is not rushed.

Is From Paris: Free and Easy Day Trip to London by Eurostar Train worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 41 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (2.8/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Paris, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule From Paris: Free and Easy Day Trip to London by Eurostar Train?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is From Paris: Free and Easy Day Trip to London by Eurostar Train suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 15-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book From Paris: Free and Easy Day Trip to London by Eurostar Train?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Paris can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Paris and add a light layer if any part of the 15-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does From Paris: Free and Easy Day Trip to London by Eurostar Train start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Paris within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Paris?

+

Paris rewards travelers who book ahead. The headline museums sell timed entry weeks out, the best food walks cap at eight people, and the Seine cruises that are worth doing are the ones that leave after sunset. Everything below is scored by the Outty Ranking so you can tell a genuine local favorite from a coach-tour filler in a single glance. On Outty we rank every Paris experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Louvre Museum Essential Guided Tour Semi Private 6 GUESTS MAX, Louvre Museum Premium Guided Tour 6 GUESTS MAX Entry Included, Paris City Center Free Walking Tour (Tip-Based). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Paris?

+

April to June and September to October, when queues thin out and terraces stay open late. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Paris?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
