Easy country-side UNESCO monuments visit
We were in a small group with the super fun and informative guide (Miguel Guerreiro), who made sure we had the best time. It was a smart choice to come by car in an excursion, as the towns visited are in the countryside and not well connected. I would strongly advise Miguel’s services!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed the friendly small-group atmosphere and Miguel’s fun and informative guidance. Travelling by car is indeed one of the best ways to explore these beautiful historic towns comfortably and make the most of the day. We truly appreciate your strong recommendation and hope to welcome you again on another memorable experience in Portugal!

Great immersive trip
We went with Miguel and he was amazing! A lot of other tour companies I researched did not hit all of the sites we did in the same tour so this was definitely worth it. Miguel made the full day entertaining and very informative and we had fun conversations while driving to each site. Definitely give this tour a try.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted that you found the tour worthwhile and enjoyed visiting so many incredible sites in one day. Miguel will be very happy to know that his knowledge, enthusiasm, and friendly company made the experience both entertaining and informative. Thank you for recommending The Guru Guide, and we hope to welcome you again for another memorable adventure in Portugal!

Cancelled by Tour Provider at 10:25 pm the night before
I would give The Guru Guide 0/5 stars if I could. I booked this tour with them on Feb 24, 2026 for 8/6/2026. The tour *would* have met at 8:15 for a scheduled 8:30 departure. However, at 10:25 pm on 8/5/2025, The Guru Guide messaged to let me know they were cancelling the tour. Why? It was not an emergency, medical or otherwise. The reason expressly provided in their cancellation is not enough people had booked the tour. If they had let me know a week or even a few days in advance, I could almost certainly have booked a similar tour. Instead, though I went online immediately upon receiving their cancellation, every booking company had closed tours departing before business hours the next day. Since I was leaving for the airport noon the day after that, the day of the cancelled tour was my last chance to go hours out of Lisbon to see Tomar. I had no reason to make alternative plans since I believed up to their 10:25 pm cancellation that the tour would go forward. I don't know when, if ever, I will be able to return to this part of the world. I am pretty unhappy to have missed my opportunity to visit Tomar. Really super unprofessional. Book at your own risk! UPDATE: The tour provider’s responded that they attempted to contact me, and that “to avoid disappointing me” they didn’t cancel until the last minute. Now, I did have another tour provider contact me 5 days before their scheduled tour (to Sintra), and we were able to reschedule successfully. For the sake of argument, let’s say The Guru Guide also attempted to contact me, and the message went astray due to tech or travel issues. Why didn’t they attempt to contact me again, and if for whatever reason I still did not respond, cancel earlier than 10.5 hrs before the departure date? By The Guru Guide’s own terms, which they emailed to me and I have attached, their company’s cutoff for cancellation is 24 hrs before scheduled departure. That is still a very short time, particularly given many of us are traveling, jetlagged, and/or have less connectivity than we do at home. However, the difference between 24 hrs and 10.5 hrs is not merely 13+ hours. It is time during business hours, when it may be possible to book another tour or event. By 10:25 pm, events and tickets for next day tours or admissions are sold out in the high season. Being in the travel industry, it’s impossible they don’t know this. Time is absolutely needed to make arrangements. Professionals make mistakes. If The Guru Guide admitted they made a mistake, that would be one thing. Cancelling 10.5 hrs in advance after business hours, and then doubling down my maintaining this was to avoid disappointing me? That’s gaslighting. The way to avoid disappointing people, assuming they reached out and could not get ahold of the person, is simply to try again. And if that doesn’t work, to cancel a few days in advance, so that when the traveler checks the booking again, it's obvious the booking is no longer live, and other arrangement can still be made. Instead, The Guru Guide literally cancelled the night before, hence my true disappointment at being unable to visit Tomar, which was a major motivator for my trip to Lisbon. Again, I can only recommend that you book with another company with better admin, in order to avoid being caught in the same situation as yours truly.
Response from the operator: Dear Grace, We are sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations and fully understand your disappointment at not being able to visit Tomar. However, we would like to clarify the circumstances, as some important details are missing from your review. You booked our small-group option, which, as clearly stated in the tour terms and conditions, requires a minimum of three participants to operate. Approximately one week before the scheduled date, our back-office team identified that the minimum number was unlikely to be reached. We contacted you through the GetYourGuide chat and offered to move your booking to 7 August, when the tour was already confirmed with six participants. As we received no response, we also attempted to contact you using the email address and telephone number provided with your reservation. Unfortunately, we still received no reply. Rather than cancelling the tour one week in advance, we kept your booking open until the evening before departure in the hope of receiving additional reservations and being able to operate as planned. Regrettably, no further participants booked, and without a response to our proposed alternative, we had no option but to cancel and issue the corresponding refund. We genuinely understand your frustration. However, the cancellation was not made without warning or effort on our part: we contacted you several days beforehand, proposed a confirmed alternative for the following day, tried different communication channels, and waited until the last possible moment to avoid disappointing you. We are truly sorry that our attempts to reach you were unsuccessful and that you were unable to visit Tomar on this occasion. Kind regards, Hugo The Guru Guide UPDATE: Dear Grace, We fully understand that receiving the final cancellation at 10:25 p.m. left you with very limited options to reorganize your plans, particularly during the high season. We sincerely regret the impact this had on your opportunity to visit Tomar. As previously explained, we contacted you approximately one week before the tour through the GetYourGuide messaging system and offered to move your reservation to the following day, when the tour was already confirmed. We subsequently attempted to reach you through the contact details associated with your booking. As no response was received, we kept the reservation open while hoping that additional participants would join and allow the tour to operate. Our intention was genuinely to avoid cancelling an experience you had planned well in advance. However, we acknowledge that waiting until late in the evening before departure ultimately left you without sufficient time to arrange a suitable alternative. Regardless of our intentions or the earlier communication attempts, we recognize that the final timing of the cancellation caused considerable inconvenience and disappointment, and we are sincerely sorry for that. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the need for repeated contact attempts and an earlier final decision when a guest cannot be reached. We will take this experience into account when reviewing our communication and cancellation procedures for future small-group tours. We never intended to dismiss your experience or feelings. We understand why you were disappointed, particularly as visiting Tomar was an important part of your trip, and we regret that we were unable to provide the experience you had been looking forward to. Kind regards, Hugo The Guru Guide

Why this scores 75
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
From Lisbon: Tomar, 3 UNESCO Monuments & Medieval Óbidos: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does From Lisbon: Tomar, 3 UNESCO Monuments & Medieval Óbidos cost?
+
Prices start at $27 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does From Lisbon: Tomar, 3 UNESCO Monuments & Medieval Óbidos take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is From Lisbon: Tomar, 3 UNESCO Monuments & Medieval Óbidos worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 35 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule From Lisbon: Tomar, 3 UNESCO Monuments & Medieval Óbidos?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is From Lisbon: Tomar, 3 UNESCO Monuments & Medieval Óbidos suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book From Lisbon: Tomar, 3 UNESCO Monuments & Medieval Óbidos?
+
Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does From Lisbon: Tomar, 3 UNESCO Monuments & Medieval Óbidos start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
