Great half day trip to Pisa

This tour is a great way to see Pisa. The cathedral, baptistery, and leaning tower are the key elements of this tour. When you arrive, you’re greeted by a local guide who thoughtfully tells the history of Pisa and the buildings housed in the Miracle Square. The square is in full sun, but our guide made a point to take us to shaded areas while she gave her history lessons. This was an enjoyable experience and more spectacular to see in person. Pictures don’t do it justice. If you’re not afraid of heights, I recommend you climb the tower. Not too difficult and worth the experience.

Response from the operator: Good Morning from Caf Tour & Travel, Dear Johanna, Thank you so much for your detailed and enthusiastic review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed discovering Pisa and that our local guide made the history of the Cathedral, Baptistery and Leaning Tower come alive while thoughtfully finding shaded areas during the explanations. Piazza dei Miracoli is truly spectacular in person, and we’re thrilled that the experience exceeded what photographs can capture. And we love hearing that you took the opportunity to climb the Leaning Tower, definitely a memorable way to experience this iconic landmark! We hope to welcome you back to Tuscany soon for another wonderful Italian adventure. With warm Tuscan regards, Caf Tour & Travel

GREAT but a bit rough getting there.

The tour itself was great. The tour guide at Pisa was very engaging and charismatic. We saw everything we wanted to see and more while there. GETTING THERE was not the best experience. The location for pick up was a bit confusing. And the guide on the bus did not really engage much with the guests. He gave the announcements etc and a few facts but that’s it. The walk from the bus to the Tower area was VERY LONG and not clearly stated that it would be so long. You will be walking at least a mile through a city with as many as 30 other people. Our guide went very fast and didn’t seem to do much “look back” for those that were struggling to keep up, not just with the pace, but the 100 degree F temp mid day. So be prepared to do a lot of walking just to get there. The walk up the tower was not that bad - the stair well is mostly wide and many places to stop and breathe along the way. It’s actually cooler inside because of the stone. It’s only disorienting because of the “lean” feeling as if you are going downhill for a time then uphill so be sure to grab the walls and find your balance. The view from the top is beautiful and definitely an accomplishment. The cathedral and baptistery were absolutely stunning. So glad we saw it!

Response from the operator: Dear Robert, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour in Pisa, especially the local guide, the monuments, and the experience of climbing the Leaning Tower. We are sorry that the journey to Pisa did not fully meet your expectations. The Florence meeting point can also be reached directly through Google Maps using the directions provided on the voucher, although we understand that finding a meeting point in an unfamiliar city can sometimes be confusing. Regarding the walk in Pisa, the coach must stop at the authorized tourist bus parking area, as this is the closest parking permitted by local regulations to Piazza dei Miracoli. The walking route is approximately a couple of kilometres overall and normally takes around 10–15 minutes. We appreciate, however, that in the exceptionally high summer temperatures this can feel considerably more demanding. We are also sorry to hear your comments regarding the tour escort’s pace and level of engagement. We will certainly look into this, as this escort has been collaborating with us for a long time and we do not normally receive this type of feedback. Thank you again for your comments, which are valuable in helping us monitor and improve the overall experience. Kind regards,

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Florence?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
