    About this experience

We are the largest Game of Thrones Tour company in Ireland. This is our Winterfell Trek from Dublin, visiting filming locations south of Belfast. This tour is a fully immersive and inclusive experience. Our guides have worked as extras on Game of Thrones®. We trek you through an old growth forest (3kms), along a lake shore path at the original Winterfell castle in season 1 (3kms) and into a crumbling, ruined medieval abbey. We use tablet clips and VFX breakdowns to show you how each scene was brought to life. We have Stark cloaks, swords and banners for everybody to use at no extra cost. All entrance fees & other extras are included in the ticket price. The only extra expense is your pub lunch. Join us, our tours are the real experience!

    Terrible experience

Terrible experience. Company cancelled tour on me twice, did not provide a refund and did not answer any of my emails chasing this.

Response from the operator: Hi Dominiques, Thanks for your feedback. You made your booking through the Berlin-based OTA (Online Travel Agent) Get Your Guide. We can see in our GYG dashboard that you were refunded by GetYourGuide the full amount of €158. When you book through an OTA, you give your money to the OTA. They refund you. The money will appear in your account from GetYourGuide, not from Game of Thrones Tours. We know you got your refund, we can see it on our end. The OTAs always refund, 100% of the time. Thank you for your understanding.

    Recommend for GOT Fans.

This was a great experience. Our tour guide Lars was not only very knowledgeable about GOT, but history as well. Was great to hear all about the history of all the locations we visited and getting to each location. Each stop and lunch was great! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle. I would definitely recommend!

Response from the operator: Thanks for a great review for Lar and our Winterfell Trek from Dublin, Christina! Yes walking footwear and a bottle of water are essential packed items on this tour, esp. in this August weather. Summer isn't coming...it's here! :)

    Tours sadly cancelled

Can't rate this tour as sadly haven't been able to do it. Twice in two years we have booked flights and accommodation to do this specific Game of Thrones walking tour, and on both occasions it has sadly been cancelled. I appreciate that both times have been due to unforeseen circumstances, with the first being weather issues which is absolutely no fault of the tour company. However, second time, the cancellation was so last minute it was very disappointing that there was no backup driver for that date. I think it is just really bad luck that we've had, but it's so disappointing to have waited for the nice weather season, paid for accommodation, flights, extra luggage to accommodate walking gear, etc., and then have this cancelled. We were offered a refund or an alternative date, but sadly were flying back on the next date offered. Perhaps it will be a third time lucky, but next time we will definitely plan our own route to these locations as a backup. I appreciate things happen, but as this is a tour and I assume many people will travel to do it, I think having a backup driver is a must so the tours can still go ahead!

    Cancelled 3 times!

I was in Ireland for study abroad and wanted to do this tour with my friend. We booked the tickets and 10 minutes before the tour was supposed to start, we received an email saying it had been cancelled. Fine, whatever. We emailed back saying we would reschedule for a different day. It took them weeks to get back to us and by then they said they would just refund us. My friend’s program ended before mine and she went home, so I asked two other friends if they wanted to go with me. They did! So we booked the tickets. We were super excited, but then I got another email. It had been cancelled AGAIN! At least this time we were told two days in advance rather than 10 minutes. There was no other day that all three of us could go, so I told my two friends to go by themselves. We emailed the company back and asked to refund one ticket and move the other 2 to another day. They replied saying that they would receive free tickets if they could make it to Belfast for the tour (rather than Dublin, where we were going to leave from), but they ended up cancelling that as well! This whole experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing, as we are all huge GOT fans. To top it all off, I have yet to receive any refunds. I don’t know if this company is scamming people, but something feels very off. I understand things happen and tours have to be cancelled, but this is a bit ridiculous.

A must see for GOT fans

Robbie was the best tour guide and extremely knowledgeable on the topic of Game of Thrones. It was truly a magical experience one that I highly recommend. There is a lot of walking so if your not physically fit maybe reconsider this particular tour.

Response from the operator: Hi Laurie, Thank you for your 5-star review and kind words about Robbie's knowledge and guiding style! We appreciate your honest tip about the physical walking requirements - it helps future guests prepare for this wonderful experience. ⚔️

From Dublin: Game of Thrones Winterfell Locations Trek: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dublin.

How much does From Dublin: Game of Thrones Winterfell Locations Trek cost?

    +

Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dublin usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does From Dublin: Game of Thrones Winterfell Locations Trek take?

    +

Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dublin is not rushed.

Is From Dublin: Game of Thrones Winterfell Locations Trek worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 88 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 818 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Dublin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule From Dublin: Game of Thrones Winterfell Locations Trek?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is From Dublin: Game of Thrones Winterfell Locations Trek suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book From Dublin: Game of Thrones Winterfell Locations Trek?

    +

Around 286 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dublin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dublin and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does From Dublin: Game of Thrones Winterfell Locations Trek start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dublin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Dublin?

    +

On Outty we rank every Dublin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dublin to Cliffs of Moher, including Wild Atlantic Way and Galway, Dublin Highlights and Hidden Gems Guided Walking Tour, The Little Museum of Dublin Famous Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dublin?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dublin?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
