It was built in the late 1560`s by their predecessor, Akbar, with later embellishments by Jahangir, his son, and Shah Jahan, his grandson.

Day Trip to Agra
The service was very professional. The driver and tour guide were on time and friendly. Of course, everyone comes to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, but our guide gave us a lot of freedom in what we do beyond that as well--including a trip to a jewel store to see the gems used in the Taj Mahal and their spiritual purposes. They were also very helpful in setting up tours for other places we were visiting in India, like Varanasi. I would definitely recommend this.
