About this experience

An Art day trip to the most famous Mexican Artists Museums. Located in Coyoacan (an old colonial town which is now incorporated into Mexico City) is the famed Blue House, built by Frida Kahlo's father and her home for most of her life. Close by is Leon Trotsky's house, now a museum too. We will also visit Anahuacalli, a museum that Diego Rivera built with an Aztec-inspired design, for his collection of pre-Hispanic ceramic pieces, strongly supported by Frida. Great experience. Lots...

Great experience. Lots of information given and some stops by points of interest like the university, Santa Fe & the Coyoacan Market. Guide could have spoken better English, and it took a little bit to find him when we completed our time at Frida’s house, but other than that we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

It was a good idea.

The personal driver/guide was a great idea. Not only did we get to the (very busy) Friday Kahlo museum utterly hassle free. Oscar (our excellent and very friendly guide) showed us around the beautiful neighbourhoods nearby with time to shop, eat and stroll around. We would never have found these places on our own. Thank you Oscar for a great day and advice for the remainder of our stay in CDMX.

Got more than what we paid for.

Received a whole lot more than what I expected. I thought we were just going to be driven to the different museums. Instead, We went around the city to see some of Diego's art works. We also stopped in Coyocan for lunch before the finally museum. I would diffidently recommend.

Frida Kahlo House

Gabriel was a great guide who was very knowledgeable about the social and political history in Mexico and how it was represented in art. We were bummed that the Diego studio was closed but the Frieda house was worth the trip.

Response from the operator: hello! We'd like to thank you for your review, and we're sorry if you weren't able to visit Diego Rivera's studio! Maybe the next time!

Do not book with this company

The tour operators never showed up for the pick up and did not respond to multiple calls and messages.

Response from the operator: Hello Rayna, seems that your booking has never been confirmed by us, as local tour operator. Maybe you should check that with Trip Advisor. thanks,

FRIDA KALHO & DIEGO RIVERA MUSEUMS (Private): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.

How much does FRIDA KALHO & DIEGO RIVERA MUSEUMS (Private) cost?

+

Prices start at $67 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does FRIDA KALHO & DIEGO RIVERA MUSEUMS (Private) take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.

Is FRIDA KALHO & DIEGO RIVERA MUSEUMS (Private) worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule FRIDA KALHO & DIEGO RIVERA MUSEUMS (Private)?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is FRIDA KALHO & DIEGO RIVERA MUSEUMS (Private) suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book FRIDA KALHO & DIEGO RIVERA MUSEUMS (Private)?

+

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does FRIDA KALHO & DIEGO RIVERA MUSEUMS (Private) start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mexico City?

+

On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mexico City?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mexico City?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
