About this experience
The apnea philosophy is irresistible, it is one of pleasure and relaxation. Everything is about feeling GOOD! Calming the mind, learning to breathe properly, connecting with ourselves and becoming one with nature. We will begin our day at the center: we will review the theory of apnea and the practice of respiratory relaxation. Soft yoga session to feel totally relaxed before entering the pool for your static apnea (hold your breath without moving). You will be surprised at what you are capable of! Lunch break! We will leave around 1.30pm, to go to our favorite cenote! Beautiful and crystalline Cenote located about 15 minutes by car from Tulum. (Max Depth 7m). We will stay there for 90 minutes. Return to your home around 4.30pm. Enjoy the experience under the guidance of a certified apnea instructor!

A unique experience highly recommended
This company is a little hidden treasure. If you want to learn freediving in a positive, secure and vibrant way, do it with Sabrina. We were 4 friends and took the one week retreat including Wave 1 course, Yoga and tourism. The schedule was perfect, you get the best of it all. But don't get me wrong, Sabrina wants to make sure that you have a very serious training in freediving so she makes sure that you have the time you need to succeed. She only takes small groups and will not take shortcuts or do quick courses. She gives you all the tools you can get and adapts to each person's needs. A genuinely nice person who teaches with her heart, which makes her super flexible and understanding. I feel like her planning really fit my learning curve and that by the end of the retreat, with all the experience we got, I was finally feeling confident as a strong beginner freediver. I exceeded my depth and time goals by a lot, without ever feeling like I was being pushed. You have a strong technical basis to build on. I am so grateful and I hope to keep training with Sabrina. Oh and let's not forget that you get to discover local hidden gems, experience local culture, every session is in a different type of cenote, you eat tasty vegetarian food and juices... each day is a fun adventure

My first class with Sabrina was in September 2022 while I was doing Wave 2 courses. And I came back for depth training in December of the same year. I realize I didn’t have a chance to write a review for this amazing instructor so I just wanna do it at this time! I’m writing this review with so much gratitude at the beginning of 2023. Sabrina is an excellent instructor with so much patience and passion in teaching. She helps you to get everything ready before your dive. We usually prepare our equipments and do stretching and brief intro at the beginning of each dive in her diving center. In the water, she gave intro and demonstration of every step, making you clear about the logistic and work with you towards your goal. You might found her a little bit “picky” about technique (in a good way!!) since she want everyone to focus on the present before going to the next level, which I think is really helpful. Most people want to progress faster even without having the skill, which you might then have injuries and can never dive again. With Sabrina, I’m very confident that I won’t encounter this and I am diving more comfortable and confidently. I want to thank Sabrina for teaching me the right mindset of freediving that we should not only looking for the result but the process of our journey. Sabrina is absolutely an admirable woman. She helps to rescue dogs in her free time, maintaining as vegetarian for respecting animals. And she is so energetic that she can teach freediving course in the morning and teaching yoga class at afternoon and still not feeling tired! I was somehow struggle of finding the right coach before September of 2022. Although I have passed my AIDA 2 and have joined some training camp by some famous freediving athlete, I always felt that there is a lack of something, lack of patience, passion, etc., and I just couldn’t find the right coach. The instructor-trainee relationship is so important in freediving. With Sabrina, everything just went so well. For anyone who will see this review that I wrote with all sincerity and is planning to do a freediving course or fundive or just one day exploration activity, Sabrina is definitely worth it. I’m sure that you will realize how amazing freediving is with Sabrina and might want to do more after.

Amazing freediving course :)
My freediving experience with la casa surya was amazing :) The course is structured really nicely, you'll get access to many learning videos and Sabrina is such a good teacher. Even though I had some problems equalizing on the first day going down, Sabrina guided me so that I managed to overcome my limitations in a safe way. Overall it was a great experience that I can recommend to everyone who wants to freedive. Thank you Sabrina!

Freediving in magical cenotes!
For years, I had been dreaming about Freediving. I thought it would be a perfect practice which would combine nicely my love for the underwater world, my personal practice of yoga and meditation. In 2014, I did a course in Thailand which ended up being slightly traumatic and definitely frustrating as I could not equalize the pressure in my ears and had to quit the course. 8 years later, I am so grateful to have contacted Sabrina of Casa Surya. From the beginning of our communication, Sabrina was the most attentive and supportive guide offering me tips and exercises to understand better the mechanisms of equalization. I had already gained some confidence before starting our first in person Freediving day in Tulum. We went to two very unique cenotes. In the morning, we worked more on technical training with free immersion on the line. Sabrina helped me to find more ease with the equalization and gave me a lot of great pointers to help my very poor duck dive technique. Even if there was a lot to integrate, I never felt overwhelmed and could enjoy every moment. We had a short but helpful yoga session at her studio before going to the water which, I believe, helped setting the tone for the day. We were only two students with different levels but as we alternated the practice while the other was resting, it felt more or less like a one on one instruction. We had a very comfortable lunch break back at Casa Surya studio with a pretty yummy healthy meal. Then, the afternoon was more of a fun dive session in an extremely beautiful cenote where the mangroves offer a great habitat for a diverse fauna. Still, Sabrina kept giving us helpful pointers while taking videos of our dives in idyllic spots. It was truly magical and inspiring. After this discovery day, I decided to take the level 1 course. It is offered as 5 half days instead of 2 (sometimes 3 days) advertised by other companies. I know that I personally can learn and integrate better at a slow pace. I am looking forward to be in the magical cenotes again soon. I definitely recommend Casa Surya for whoever wants to experience Freediving!

Freedive discovery to Molchanov Wave 1
✨What an amazing, transformative week it has been! ✨ My heart is full with joy ❤️ I first met Sabrina Meyer several years back when I took a one day freediving discovery course with her at La Casa Surya where I learned to face my fears and start to conquer my fear of swimming. I immediately fell in love with freediving, and although I had several opportunities to take a freediving course at other locations - Something was telling me, wait until you can take the course with Sabrina. So a few years and one pandemic later... And OMG I am so happy I waited 😁 For anyone wanting to experience freediving for the first time, get your certificate, or perfect your technique and improve your dives, I wholeheartedly recommend her as an instructor. Small groups, with patient instruction and heavy focus on perfecting technique before moving on to more difficult dives. Soo happy to be part of the Molchanovs diving system, and proud to report the I am now wave 1 certified.
