Franschhoek Wine tour with lunch and town excursion
We were amazing to see the wineries and all that they produce. They have a wonderful selection of products made on site. If you are vegan or vegetarian, they even have a tasting selection for your wine pairings. Ask ahead of time as they are very prepared to set up your tasting station. Lunch was outstanding and the weather did not dampen our enthusiasm Oiyahn Williams was our tour guide and patiently waited for us to enjoy our lunch, shop, taste wine, and pursue the beautiful town. The people are wonderful and the town is charming. I highly recommend this Tour!
Response from the operator: Good Afternoon, Thank you for taking the time and providing us with your feedback.

Tram out of commission but fear not much fun had on the bus!
Unfortunately the tram was out of commission so we only had the bus. BUT we were given 50% back on what we paid. We still had a brilliant time. Met such lovely people on the busses. Busses run very timeously. Very friendly knowledgeable staff. We did the orange line. A fantastic Saturday. Loved it.
Response from the operator: Good Morning Thank you for taking the time and providing us with your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you had a fantastic Saturday.

crap, over priced and underperfomed.Maybe just do the piss ups
went on flavours of the vine experience.without questionthe worst wine experience had in 25 years of visiting cape area. nice people on meet and greet. were driven to a siding and got on single track train carriage.this vehicle moved along and for effect tooted its horn regularly and after being given a tasteless and not chilled'wine'from rickety bridge we returned,.The first tour was at goederust. The hosts made a good effort but for english ears the introduction was spoken too quickly. The germans nearby did not understand anything.!the wines were non descript. We went then to rickety bridge. What an appropriate name. Here in 30C were two wines presented both of which were not chilled ;a and rose and something else.An hour and a quarter later two more wines arrived and that was it.Reds can be lightly chilled! When the table asked for clean glasses we were told they were so busy that they had run out and we should use the original glasses.WHAT an advert for the Franschhoek Valley WINERIES.A tepid meal was presented. What a waste of time.Just under two and a half hours.Luckily they sold Savannah dry.We were there for a wine experience. Finally we were taken by a jalopy to Dieu Donne. This vehicle barely got up the road and cannot be recommended for anyone with piles. This beautiful estate with its charming tasting room gave a wine with chocolate experience .The final red I believe called brush and for us was wine of the day. Why wasn't the rep going round questioning about matters during matters.....?Thank goodness we were staying in Franschhoek and were able to drink many fabulous local wines.

Hire a driver for better value
Our driver, Ernesto, was the best part of the tour. I give him 5 stars! Due the the weather and the limitations of the wine tram due to recent flooding, he truly adapted the experience to our interests. He actually ended up taking us to a brewery and to the last prison where Nelson Mandela was released. The wine tours are for people truly interested in wine. The tram part is kind of pointless if you can get a driver to take you around instead. With the tram, you are very restricted by their timing. If you do not get to the bus within an hour, you have to stay at that winery for another hour. Honestly, you can find a driver/tour guide in Cape Town for a better price with more flexibility.
Response from the operator: Good Morning Thank you for your feedback received and we will pass on your comments onto the guide.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Franschhoek Wine Tram & Boschendal Wine Farm Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.
How much does Franschhoek Wine Tram & Boschendal Wine Farm Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $129 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Franschhoek Wine Tram & Boschendal Wine Farm Experience take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.
Is Franschhoek Wine Tram & Boschendal Wine Farm Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Franschhoek Wine Tram & Boschendal Wine Farm Experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Franschhoek Wine Tram & Boschendal Wine Farm Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Franschhoek Wine Tram & Boschendal Wine Farm Experience?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Franschhoek Wine Tram & Boschendal Wine Farm Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cape Town?
+
On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunrise/Sunset Hike, Ocean Wildlife Encounter in Cape Town, Private Full Day Stellenbosch Wine Tour with Pick Up and Drop Off. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
