Highly Recommended Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town
We had an amazing time on the Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town. The tour was very well organised from start to finish, with a comfortable pick-up and drop-off from Cape Town, making the whole day completely stress-free. The Franschhoek Wine Tram itself was a highlight a fun and scenic way to explore the beautiful wine farms in the valley. Each stop was well planned, giving us enough time to enjoy wine tastings, explore the estates, and take in the stunning views. Our guide/driver was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, sharing interesting information about the area and ensuring everyone was well taken care of throughout the day. The pace of the tour was perfect, allowing us to relax and truly enjoy the experience. This is a fantastic way to experience the Cape Winelands if you’re visiting Cape Town. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a memorable, well-organised wine experience in Franschhoek. Highly recommended!

No tram available and entrance fee required to go in to vineyard!!
Booked this for the Tram ride and one day before they said tram not available!! No workarounds no other plans ….. just take it or leave it Also the last vineyard Babylonstoren they demanded R150 entrance fee for each of us even though the plan we had was ‘everything included’ Very poor marketing of this trip Won’t be using. It again or recommending it to any one
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the tram and the unexpected entrance fee at Babylonstoren. We strive to provide accurate information and seamless experiences, and we regret that this wasn’t reflected in your tour. Regarding the tram, as it is operated by our partner, availability can sometimes change at short notice. We understand this caused frustration, and we’ll work on providing clearer communication and alternative options in the future. For Babylonstoren, certain wineries have separate entrance fees which are sometimes unavoidable, and we’re sorry this wasn’t communicated clearly in advance. Your comments will help us improve our itinerary descriptions to avoid similar issues for future travelers. We truly value your feedback and hope you’ll give us a chance to make it right in the future.

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town 8 Hour Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.
How much does Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town 8 Hour Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $145 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town 8 Hour Tour take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.
Is Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town 8 Hour Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town 8 Hour Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town 8 Hour Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town 8 Hour Tour?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Franschhoek Wine Tram Experience from Cape Town 8 Hour Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cape Town?
+
On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunrise/Sunset Hike, Ocean Wildlife Encounter in Cape Town, Private Full Day Stellenbosch Wine Tour with Pick Up and Drop Off. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
