What you get

    About this experience

Discover the true heartbeat of Sorrento by stepping off the largely beaten tourist path for a few hours. Immensely popular, this food experience offers a truly unique and authentic insight in to delicious local fare and everyday life in Sorrento. Strolling through a residential area accompanied by a knowledgeable host, you will be introduced to time-honoured restaurants. Savouring generous portions of several dishes, you will have the added bonus of learning a little about the traditions behind each one. All dishes are locally sourced and utilise only seasonal produce, and while what's on the 'menu' may vary, traditional foods such as 'parmigiana di melanzane' are accompanied by acclaimed local wine. Homemade desserts from family recipes and of course limoncello bring this lovely 'famiglia Italiana’ style culinary experience to a satisfactory close. * NOTE : Venues on this tour are situated closely together. We walk between them but distances are not far. Food is our focus.

    Lovely relaxed afternoon

We had a really loved relaxed time with Vanessa and Lee, who are wonderful hosts and have really good local knowledge. The food was excellent- we were so full at the end! Great to experience authentic family businesses, accompanied by people who actually live there.

    Five stars all the way!

We had an absolutely wonderful time on this food and wine tour! Every stop offered delicious, authentic fresh food paired with excellent local wines, and we got to experience flavors we never would have found on our own. Our guide Vanessa was knowledgeable, friendly, and shared fascinating stories about the local history, culture, and cuisine in Sorrento that made the experience even more enjoyable. The tour was well organized, the pace was perfect, and the portions were generous. It was one of the highlights of our trip, and we left with full stomachs and great memories. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience the true taste of the area. Five stars all the way!

    Our Second Time Around

This is the second time that we have done this progressive lunch tour with the Gourmet Girls. We had our first tour two years ago, booked after listening to Lee on the podcast Untold Italy. She was so charming and fun on that podcast. When we planned our trip to the Amalfi Coast, we booked our first lunch tour, took the SITA bus to Sorrento and had the best time. Both Lee and Vanessa took us to four different restaurants for wine and food and more food and dessert, and it was such a fun time. Fast forward 2 years later, and we booked the progressive lunch tour again, this time with our two friends. Vanessa was away, so it was Lee who led our group. The food was plentiful and delicious, the wine flowed, and there was so much laughter throughout our group of four couples. Lee kept everything fun and had great stories to tell of being transplanted from Scotland to Sorrento, Italy. This tour was truly the highlight of our vacation, both this year and two years ago. Thank you to both Lee and Vanessa for putting together such a fun and memorable experience for us. And we missed you this time Vanessa!

Food and Wine Tour 'Taste of Sorrento' Progressive Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sorrento.

How much does Food and Wine Tour 'Taste of Sorrento' Progressive Lunch cost?

    +

Prices start at $53 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sorrento usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Food and Wine Tour 'Taste of Sorrento' Progressive Lunch take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sorrento is not rushed.

Is Food and Wine Tour 'Taste of Sorrento' Progressive Lunch worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 86 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 117 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sorrento, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Food and Wine Tour 'Taste of Sorrento' Progressive Lunch?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Food and Wine Tour 'Taste of Sorrento' Progressive Lunch suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Food and Wine Tour 'Taste of Sorrento' Progressive Lunch?

    +

Around 41 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sorrento can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sorrento and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Food and Wine Tour 'Taste of Sorrento' Progressive Lunch start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sorrento within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sorrento?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sorrento experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pizza School with Wine and Limoncello Tasting in a Local Farm, Private Amalfi Coast Day Tour from Sorrento or Naples, Sorrento Farm and Food Experience including Olive Oil, Limoncello, Wine tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sorrento?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sorrento?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
