Day trip to Chefchaouen
We booked a one day tour to Chefchaouen and could not have been happier. Our driver, Badr, met us at our hotel, was a wonderful driving companion and knowledgeable about our destination. We learned a lot and Badr even assisted our negotiations to buy a trinket or two. The driver and this touring company are the best as far as we are concerned.

Hire Badr As Your Driver!
Badr is an excellent, safe driver. Prior to picking us up, he confirmed the date and time and also supplied a photo of his car and license plate. Badr was kind, considerate and cheerfully answered all our questions. He has a great personality and we enjoyed our time with him immensely. As a resident of Fes, I highly recommend Badr for any of your driving needs.

Horrible experience
The whole process was a bit cumbersome and somewhat annoying. Our original request during the booking process was 10am. We received a confirmation for 10AM. We also received another notification for 9am. I contacted the tour operator and was told they cannot drive thru the mountains at night and needs to be 8am. Not what I booked but ok - Fine - we will go with the flow. When the driver arrived we were obviously disappointment in the car and to make matters worse, the car was dirty. We have enjoyed our time in Morocco and have been accustomed to Mercedes touring vans for Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier and Fez. When I booked the most expensive tour since this was a long trip to Chechaoun from Fez, I expected the same luxurious car / vans we had in other citites- I was not expecting what arrived. The car was dirty, the driver unprofessional and small. The description has luxurious in the title and this felt like cousins Vinny was called to make a couple of bucks. My husband mistakenly forgot his phone and we asked the driver to turn around and drive the three minutes back to the hotel’s. The driver seemed put out by this request. Mind you, this is a private driver that we hired but felt more like we were an inconvenience. We stopped where everyone seems to stop at Mountain Rif hotel, which we did not request. We prefer not to stop but the driver did not ask. We asked the driver for only a ten minute stop - he said 20 minutes so he could have lunch. I am not paying to stop for the driver to have lunch when we are only 80 minutes from our destination and he would have three hours to have lunch while we explored Chefchaouen. Also, he did state that he is not a robot and needs to stop. We had not experience anything like that in our two weeks in Morocco. We were only given two hours in Chefchaouen. On the return trip, our driver was stopped for several minutes due to papers not being correct and then stopped again. We did not ask for any additional stops and were extremely frustrated at this point. Extremely disappointing in the whole experience and the driver acted as if we were at his disposal not the other way around. We also had to ask for air conditioning

First, the vehicle was clean and properly prepared before the service, and we have photos taken before the trip documenting its condition. Regarding the vehicle type, you never requested a Mercedes van when making your reservation. Our service clearly states SUV or van depending on availability and the number of passengers. A Mercedes van was never specifically requested or guaranteed. The fact that you travelled in Mercedes vans with other companies in Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier or Fes does not mean that a Mercedes van was included in this booking. If you specifically wanted one, it needed to be requested and confirmed in advance. Soufian is one of our trusted and professional drivers. Unfortunately, there were repeated difficulties during the trip because of the way you communicated with him. We also received information from the hotel regarding your behaviour, so this was not an isolated concern. When your husband forgot his phone, our driver turned around and returned to the hotel for you. Nevertheless, this is described in your review as though the driver was doing something wrong. Regarding the rest stop, booking a private tour does not mean that a driver becomes a client’s personal servant or must drive for hours without reasonable breaks. A professional driver needs appropriate breaks for rest, food and bathroom needs, particularly when responsible for passenger safety. Saying, “I am not paying for the driver to have lunch,” is disrespectful toward the person responsible for safely transporting you for many hours. The police controls mentioned in your review were also completely outside our control. When Moroccan authorities stop a vehicle, our driver must cooperate. A police control should not be presented as a failure of our service. We would also like to make something very clear regarding the refund. You contacted Viator with your complaint, and although we were already aware of the difficulties during the trip and the disrespectful way our driver had been treated, we still agreed to refund you as a gesture of goodwill and to resolve the situation professionally. Despite receiving the refund, you then proceeded to publish this review without mentioning that we had already refunded you. We believe this is important context when presenting the situation publicly. We have welcomed many American guests over the years and have had excellent experiences based on mutual courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, the way you communicated with our driver did not reflect the level of respect we normally experience with our guests. This is not about nationality; it is about individual behaviour. We also find it inappropriate that the driver’s physical appearance was brought into the review by describing him as “small.” His height or appearance has absolutely nothing to do with his professionalism or ability to drive safely. We respect our clients and take genuine criticism seriously, but we also protect our employees when they are treated unfairly or disrespectfully. We have documentation showing the condition of the vehicle, the vehicle provided was consistent with the booking, and we have records concerning what occurred during the service. You received the service, you raised your complaint with Viator, and we nevertheless agreed to refund you. After that, you still chose to publish this review while omitting the fact that you had been refunded. We stand fully behind Soufian, our team and the service that was provided.

Excellent tour
Sufyan was a wonderful guide. Early, informative, and adaptive to the itinerary changes that we wanted. Benbek travel was easy to work and communicate with. I highly recommend.

Visit to the Blue City!
Mr. Mohammed was an amazing guide. Very patient and made us feel welcome and comfortable. He also was very knowledgeable about Fes and Chefchaouen. We didn’t realize we also had a private guide, Mr. Hazim, when we arrived in Chefchaouen. He truly loves his city and many people know and love him in the Medina. Great experience and would book again.
