What you'll see and do
Medina of Fez
Your experienced, knowledgeable, (English;french;spanich)-speaking guide from Fes Desert Trips will pick you up from your hotel or riad at 10 am to explore Fes Medina and its souks. You will get to see the world famous tanneries, the oldest university in the world and stunning coranic school, and get a tour of the city walls and the lovely gates that lead in and out of the medina and breathtaking panoramic view of the old city then visit the ceramic factory, the royal palace as well as the Mellah (Jewish quarter). You will begin the visit with the guided walking tour of the medina itself, a UNESCO world heritage site, which is a labyrinth of 9,600 twisting, turning alleyways and the largest urbanized pedestrian area in the world. Here we will first visit Seffarine Square where you can see (and hear!) the metalworkers playing there trade in the traditional manner using copper, brass and pewter. On you go through the snaking passageways to visit the famous tanneries then the Al-Quarawiyyine University, the oldest university in the world and very important to Islam and gloriously decorated and recently restored to its ancient glory, and then the exotic aromatic spices and fresh, piled vegetables in the Attarine souk to the exquisitely decorated Attarine medersa and then you visit the Nejjarine square and its beautiful mozaic, blue and white public fountain and the Woodwork Museum and caravanserai. Your journey will continue with a tour around the city ramparts of Fes with air-conditioned car, to see the ancient walls and numerous pretty Babs until you reach the South Tower, a French built fortress built on a hilltop overlooking the medina which provides stunning views of the old city and its surrounds then drive to ceramic factory, where you can see the potters at their trade and using the kilns to make their ceramic wares. Here you will also get a chance to see the traditional Fassi blue and white pottery at bargain prices as well as other designs in a myriad of colours. Then to the mighty Dar El Makhzen which is the Royal Palace of Fes with it's seven huge bronze entrance doors. Then a short drive to the magnificent Bab Boujloud, the huge main gateway to the medina, patterned on one side in blue tiles, for Fes, and on the other in green, for Islam. At the end of the day you will be dropped off at your overnight accommodation by your Fes Desert Trips guide.

fes medina guided tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Fez.
How much does fes medina guided tour cost?
+
Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Fez usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does fes medina guided tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Fez is not rushed.
Is fes medina guided tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 61 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Fez, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule fes medina guided tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is fes medina guided tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book fes medina guided tour?
+
Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Fez can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Fez and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does fes medina guided tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Fez within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Fez?
+
On Outty we rank every Fez experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Exclusive Fez Medina Walking Tour with Private Guide, Fes to Marrakech desert tour 3 days, Private Guided Walking Tour of Fes Medina with Local Expert. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Fez?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Fez?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
