Great time
We didnt get to see the lights but it was still a good time.

Total waste of time and money
This was a total Rip Off. All we did was drive around Rovaniemi. Walk through a forest AND the ONLY light we saw was the firelight inside a tepee. What a waste of time and money. PLEASE BOOK WITH SOMEONE ELSE - who is prepared to drive out of town to show you the lights.
Response from the operator: Dear customer, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that the tour felt disappointing and did not meet your expectations. We understand your frustration, especially when traveling with the hope of seeing the Northern Lights. As clearly stated in the tour description, this experience involves driving outside Rovaniemi to search for clear skies, walking short distances in the forest, and spending time in a wilderness setting, including a traditional tepee, while waiting for potential Northern Lights activity. The tepee and campfire are intended as a warm and comfortable base during the search, not as the main highlight of the tour. Unfortunately, the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and their visibility cannot be guaranteed on standard tours. When conditions do not allow for sightings, the experience focuses more on the Arctic nature, atmosphere, and storytelling around the fire. For guests who wish to focus on pure Aurora hunting and have a refund option in case no Northern Lights appear, we recommend booking our Guaranteed Northern Lights Hunting Adventure, which is clearly marked in our offerings. We regret that this experience felt like a waste of time and money for you, as this is never our intention. Your feedback is important to us and helps us improve how we communicate tour expectations. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to contact us directly at partners@wildaboutlapland.com and we will be happy to assist and discuss your concerns. Kind regards, Dominik Wild About Lapland

Total waste of valuable time AND money. The ONLY light we saw was the firelight inside a tepee in a forest.
This was a total waste of time and money. It was not a northern lights tour but a forest tour. Total rip off. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK!!!! Try other providers. All we did was drive around Rovaniemi, walked through a forest tour to a tepee where the INLY light we saw was the firelight inside. What a waste of three hours. Shame on you Wild About Lapland!!😖

Amazing trip of a lifetime!
We had the best evening out watching the Northern Lights with our tour guide Lola. Memories of a lifetime! We were brought to an amazing area which was about 45mins outside of Rovaniemi. We had more than enough time to watch the Northern Lights. We toasted marshmallows and were offered to cook sausages too! Lola was amazing with the kids and gave us loads of information. Thank you!

Fantastic northern lights experience for the family
We made a last minute decision to book this tour a few hours in advance on Christmas night as it was our last night in Lapland and we hadn’t yet seen the northern lights. I was hesitant as the activity forecast wasn’t high but I’m so glad we took a chance as we had a brilliant time. Our tour guide Atanas took us to a remote location on a lake and we were able to see the northern nights as soon as we got there. Atanas took some professional photos for us even though photography wasn’t included with this tour. My children are aged 9 and 11 and loved hearing Atanas explain how the auroras occur and he showed them how to make fire using flint. They enjoyed hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows in the warm tipi while learning about Finnish traditions and telling stories. They went sledding on the snow at the location. This tour was a highlight of our trip and would have been fun even if we weren’t lucky enough to see the northern lights. Thank you Wild about Lapland

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Family-Friendly: Northern Lights Adventure from Rovaniemi: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rovaniemi.
How much does Family-Friendly: Northern Lights Adventure from Rovaniemi cost?
+
Prices start at $124 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rovaniemi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Family-Friendly: Northern Lights Adventure from Rovaniemi take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rovaniemi is not rushed.
Is Family-Friendly: Northern Lights Adventure from Rovaniemi worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 31 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rovaniemi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Family-Friendly: Northern Lights Adventure from Rovaniemi?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Family-Friendly: Northern Lights Adventure from Rovaniemi suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Family-Friendly: Northern Lights Adventure from Rovaniemi?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rovaniemi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rovaniemi and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Family-Friendly: Northern Lights Adventure from Rovaniemi start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rovaniemi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rovaniemi?
+
On Outty we rank every Rovaniemi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Rovaniemi: Guaranteed Viewing & Unlimited Mileage, Rovaniemi: Korouoma Canyon & Frozen Waterfalls Tour with BBQ, Rovaniemi:%100 Guaranteed Northern Lights Hunt&Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rovaniemi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rovaniemi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
