About this experience
Not all Northern Lights tours are the same. At Champion Skyes Adventures, we've created an aurora experience that is comfortable, personal, and focused on helping you appreciate one of nature's greatest displays. Instead of standing in the cold for hours, guests can relax in our heated lodge with complimentary refreshments, indoor seating, and restroom access while remaining just steps from the viewing area. Our guides explain what causes the aurora, why it changes shape and color, and why Alaska is one of the best places on Earth to see it. When the lights appear, step outside to enjoy the show, gather around the fire, and capture the moment. Complimentary aurora portraits are included when conditions allow. Experience the Northern Lights in comfort while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Best place to view Auroras in Fairbanks!
Highlight event of our whole vacation! Aurora and astronomy viewing at Champion Skyes is an absolutely amazing experience! Kendall is an exceptional photographer, host, and entertainer. The location is phenomenal for full horizon view of the sky. We did this on our last night of our Fairbanks vacation and can't wait to come back! Kendall took photos of my family under the aurora, explained each of the constellations, played various games with us when we went indoors to warm up, and graciously built a campfire for us and told stories. We were lucky to view multiple coronal auroras. Check out his Instagram page to see them!

my experience
when the tour began everything was perfect he had snacks and a fire outside it was so cozy our guide clearly loved his job and took pride in sharing the science and his jokes behind the northern lights. His passion made the entire experience more memorable. He didn’t just lead the group he made us feel part of something special like we weren’t just another tour for the night he was helping us set up our cameras for the perfect shot and took free photos for us (they turned out awesome) while we waited for the lights to appear his excitement never faded, he had bored games that me and my dad played while the others slept while we waited! It was clear that he wasn’t just doing a job he was living his dream.

Amazing New Year’s Eve!
We had an absolutely incredible experience at Champion Skyes Adventures and Tours on New Year’s Eve! From the moment we arrived, Kendall—the owner—was extremely welcoming, friendly, and genuinely hospitable. He made us feel right at home and truly went above and beyond to make the night special. We spent the evening stargazing, were lucky enough to see the aurora, and relaxed by the fire pit, which made for an unforgettable and cozy experience. Kendall even took our picture with the aurora using his professional camera, and the photos turned out absolutely stunning—something we’ll treasure forever. The facility was spotless, comfortable, and perfectly set up for guests. You can really tell how much care and passion Kendall has put into building this business. Champion Skyes Adventures and Tours is a fantastic new venture, and it is well worth the cost for such a unique, high-quality experience. We can’t recommend it enough!

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Fairbanks Aurora Photography Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Fairbanks.
How much does Fairbanks Aurora Photography Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Fairbanks usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Fairbanks Aurora Photography Experience take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Fairbanks is not rushed.
Is Fairbanks Aurora Photography Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Fairbanks, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Fairbanks Aurora Photography Experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Fairbanks Aurora Photography Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Fairbanks Aurora Photography Experience?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Fairbanks can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Fairbanks and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Fairbanks Aurora Photography Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Fairbanks within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Fairbanks?
+
Fairbanks is the aurora capital of interior Alaska: heated viewing lodges, late-night chase tours, Arctic Circle day drives up the Dalton Highway, dog sledding and summer riverboat cruises. On Outty we rank every Fairbanks experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours, Dog Sledding and Mushing Experience in North Pole, Fairbanks Ice Fishing Expedition in a Heated Cabin with Fish Cookout. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Fairbanks?
+
Late August to April for aurora, June to August for midnight-sun river trips. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Fairbanks?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
