Fantastic class with Jia — highly recommend for cooks of all levels
Jia was our instructor, and it was immediately clear she has deep knowledge across many styles of cooking, not just Korean. My group of four had the session to ourselves, and we came in with a real range of cooking experience — Jia adjusted her teaching for each of us without missing a beat. I'm a fairly seasoned home cook myself, and I still walked away having learned a lot of new techniques and ideas, both about Korean food specifically and cooking in general. She was excellent at explaining the "why" behind each technique, not just demonstrating it, and the ingredients she gave us to work with were noticeably fresh and delicious. The overall vibe was warm and educational — my whole group had a great time both cooking and eating together afterward. One member of our group is a strict vegetarian, and Jia handled it seamlessly. Rather than just swapping in a bland substitute, she used fresh tofu and mushrooms in place of the pork and adjusted the sauce approach specifically for that version — then walked all of us through both methods side by side so we understood the differences. It was a thoughtful touch that made the whole group feel included, not just accommodated. Highly recommend this class, especially if you want an instructor who actually teaches rather than just walks you through steps.

Exceptional Cooking Class Experience in Seoul
We’ve started a tradition of taking a cooking class when we travel—and today’s in Seoul was one of the best yet. We had the pleasure of joining a class with Ongo Food Communication, led by owner and founder Jai Choi. The class was small and intimate—just seven of us (five from the U.S. and a newlywed couple from Australia). We each prepared two dishes: Japchae (sweet potato noodles with vegetables) and Jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy pork). And I don’t mind saying—this was some of the best food I’ve had since arriving in Korea. Highly recommend this experience—great food, great instruction, and a fun way to connect with the culture and fellow travelers.

Delicious food with a charming hostess. Don’t miss it!!
I took a wonderful cooking class withJia today. She is a marvelous cook and we made 2 delicious dishes, Japheth noodles which I learned are made from sweet potatoes and a pork dish. all of the ingredients will be easy to find in San Diego.Preparation was easy and the dishes were ready n a very short time. This class would be good for.all levels of cooks. Jia is very charming helpful. This class was the highlight of my stay in Seoul. If you have an opportunity to take this class you will not regret it.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words. We're so glad you had lot of fun cooking with us! :)

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Experience Korean Cooking in Modern Hanok Kitchen: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Seoul.
How much does Experience Korean Cooking in Modern Hanok Kitchen cost?
+
Prices start at $87 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Seoul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Experience Korean Cooking in Modern Hanok Kitchen take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Seoul is not rushed.
Is Experience Korean Cooking in Modern Hanok Kitchen worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 122 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Seoul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Experience Korean Cooking in Modern Hanok Kitchen?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Experience Korean Cooking in Modern Hanok Kitchen suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Experience Korean Cooking in Modern Hanok Kitchen?
+
Around 43 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Seoul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Seoul and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Experience Korean Cooking in Modern Hanok Kitchen start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Seoul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Seoul?
+
On Outty we rank every Seoul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include DMZ Tour: Defector Q&A, Tunnel & Suspension Bridge /Hotel pick up, Best DMZ Tour Seoul: Defector Q&A, 3rd Tunnel & Suspension Bridge, 2026 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best: DMZ Tour from Seoul. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Seoul?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Seoul?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
