The lady at the Via Pretris Napoli point sold us 2 tickets for approx. €45 each for an excursion to Vesuvius on July 1st, telling us that they would take us to the top and that we only had to walk 100 meters to see the crater + the audio guides. We repeatedly specified that my husband and I had problems walking. Once we reached the area with the shuttle at the foot of Vesuvius, we instead had to walk 2 km uphill on a dirt road with curves. Therefore, we had to give up and wait until 1:30 PM for the return shuttle. €90 wasted. Upon returning, we went to complain to the same young lady, but she reiterated her version, that is, that one could go up to the top with the shuttle. Now I wonder if the staff is trained sufficiently or if she saw us as 2 naive tourists to rip off.

Well organized trip with a lot of flexibility from the organization. Due to miscommunication with a local person, we had missed the bus, but thanks to the fast and active communication, everything turned out fine. In short: definitely recommended!

TRAMVIA TO AVOID

No tickets available on arrival, your host Salvatore takes your phone for 1 hour to order tickets for the whole group. We had relaunched the company twice because we did not have the tickets sent by email but nothing was done. Members of the group did not have time to climb to the top of the crater. The return bus does not drop you off at the stop originally planned to save time on its tour.

Nice trip, bad organization

First of all, Mount Vesuvius is definitely worth a visit and as such was a nice excursion. However, I will not travel with Tramvia again. On arrival everything was still perfectly fine, the bus arrived on time at the agreed stop and then drove us to a neighboring village below Vesuvius. There we changed buses and drove to Mount Vesuvius. There the bus driver showed a sign with the departure times that were available: 1:30, 3:00 and 4:30. We decided to increase the bus at 15:00. However, this never came. After consulting the tour operator, we should have taken the bus from Busvia, which we were not aware of. Some fellow passengers then took the scheduled bus to Pompeii unnervingly. The bus at 4:30 p.m. came lucky.

Combination excursion booked with first a visit to Pompei and then Mount Vesuvius. Arriving at Pompei, the tour guide told us that there were 2 departure times for the bus to Mount Vesuvius. Or 2:30 or 3:00. We had initially booked for 3 hours, but according to her you could leave earlier. This is what we did, we took the bus from half past 2 to Mount Vesuvius. Once there it turned out that we had only received 1 entrance ticket instead of 3 pieces. As a result, we couldn't get in. No solution was found on the spot and so went down again. Contacted the organization, who said that we had been too early because we had booked 3 hours and that therefore the tickets were not yet valid. But with that one card, one of us just had access so this was bullshit. Indicated that this was indicated in the bus according to the tour guide, but no response was ever received.
