    Great photos of wildlife

Our guide Derek was outstanding and was helpful as well as very concerned for our safety. He took us to areas where he felt we would have the best opportunity for good photography and checked with locals as to sightings of wildlife. We had great sightings and he assisted us in getting us get the best photos possible. Thanks so much! Pam H

    Picture Alaska!

Had a great experience. Our guide Karla Kennedy was friendly, warm and informative. Gave tips on good pictures of wildlife and how to deal with weather. Karla even made time to do a short video for my tourism students at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona. I would recommend making the tour about 30 minutes longer but I think time is limited due to ship docking (we were on a cruise). I recommend booking with Rainbow Glacier Adventures, LLC.

Response from the operator: Thanks for giving us this five-star review! Karla is an excellent guide who goes out of her way to provide exceptional experiences for our guests.

Derek was a great photography guide

Derek was an affable, knowledgeable guide for our photography tour. He went beyond our expectations to make our photography opportunities really special. We loved his personal approach to sharing his experiences in Alaska to make our tour so enjoyable. We highly recommend Derek and his company for tours in Haines!

Response from the operator: Thanks for this great review of your time with Derek and Rainbow Glacier Adventures. I love it when I see that our tour went "beyond your expectations."

    Iphone photos

Katt was an amazing guide. She was personable and funny on top of being very informative. Would definitely recommend her.

Response from the operator: Katt is really amazing. I appreciate that you mentioned iPhone photos. Some guests think you need fancy equipment to go on one of our photo tours, but that is not true. Phone cameras are quite sophisticated these days and can take great photos. And our photo tours move at a slower pace and spend more time at each location that some of our other tour, which many appreciate. Isn't it nice to have time to catch your breath and soak in the feel of Alaska?

    Wonderful scenery

Wonderful scenery, plenty of opportunities to take photos, Chilkat lake was a highlight. Not a lot of wildlife for our trip today but mostly down to wrong time of year for the big mammals. Karla was a great guide, very knowledgeable and clearly loved the area and its native history. Wish I had more time to spend in the area!

Response from the operator: Thanks for this great review. Karla is an excellent guide and knows how to the find the wildlife. But even if the wildlife does not show, there is plenty to see and experience and photograph in Haines. Our photography tours move at a slower pace and that gives everyone time to really soak in the special beauty of Alaska in their own way.

Exclusive Photography Tour Haines Departure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Haines.

How much does Exclusive Photography Tour Haines Departure cost?

    +

Prices start at $248 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Haines usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Exclusive Photography Tour Haines Departure take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Haines is not rushed.

Is Exclusive Photography Tour Haines Departure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 26 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Haines, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Exclusive Photography Tour Haines Departure?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Exclusive Photography Tour Haines Departure suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Exclusive Photography Tour Haines Departure?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Haines can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Haines and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Exclusive Photography Tour Haines Departure start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Haines within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Haines?

    +

Haines, AK packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Haines by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Haines experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chilkoot Lake Kayaing - Departing from Haines., Chilkoot Lake Nature and Wildlife Viewing (2.5 hrs in Haines), Private Group Eagle Preserve Float Trip in Haines. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Haines?

    +

Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Haines, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Haines?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
